This is good fortune (if his shoulders are OK) not some masterstroke of foresight and good planning. IL must think we are all stupid.
Whether it was a success or not in the NRL is not important, what is important is that on his return to SL he rejected offers from other SL clubs to come back to Wigan. So IL is right it is a positive move from Wigan to ensure we had first refusal.
Of course his success or lack of it in the NRL is important. You'd have to be incredibly naive to think he'd be back here if he had been successful.

After two shoulder operations there isn't a club daft enough to pay a fee to release him from any Wigan obligations so in that negative sense IL's scheme has worked.

If you remember that first refusal clause lapsed after a couple of years so given his NRL career ended before it got started that is Wigan's good fortune, not was what expected to happen (unless you expected him to fail).

If he had come back here off the back of a completed NRL contract at the top of his game then IL might have a point but as I said the first refusal would have lapsed by then anyway.

Instead he has come back having been released early after two shoulder operations and IL is trying to sell this as the system working. Give over.
But he wasn't successful and did come back within the 2 years so again it was a good move by Wigan. What is your point exactly other than looking at something in a way that never happened? It happened this way FACT and we hopefully benefit, so again IL is correct.

Our policy of allowing players to play in other competitions whilst keeping the option available for them to return to the Club in the future.

This is all he said and in this case is correct!!

Like others I felt that we let people go too easily and the "option" was not worth having. Here, and with Joel, the approach looks as if it has been vindicated, especially if Lee did have an option of going to Leeds. I think the press release is the perfect blend of sales pitch and hard facts. Am prepared to dream that we will see the wonderful Moose of 2012 - he deserves a break after his Wembley heroics..

I'm pleased, don't think he would've lost the plot with that Kiwi hard man LH. Looking forward to next season, and the new shirt with a nationally recognised sponsor - no offence to Houses for Homes.

I know and I was just reiterating what you said. I am hoping his shoulders are now fine and he just wants to come home, wishful maybe!!
Was speaking to a mate at work who is a friend to a very good friend of Lee and he said that Lee has definitely signed for Wigan and that Lee's mrs is homesick and doesn't want to return to Australia.

I think everyone should watch Mossops interview on Wigan t.v. His wife has just had their first child and as such have made their parents grandparents for the first time.It would have been difficult for the whole family to be so far apart. I guess when they came back for the off season they realised how much they missed home and their families. On the signing, yes it's a risk but Wigan as a club are smart enough to have clauses in the contract to mitigate that risk. Good luck to Lee and his family I hope all goes well for him back at Wigan.

So fickle our lot, such short memories. Had he been a success in the NRL who is to say he wouldn't return? Why not? Maybe not as soon perhaps but why would he not return regardless?

Sam T has been suttle on his questions regarding a return to us....it doesn't take the brains of an arch bishop to see he would love a return,no doubt about it, you can see it in his body language and his tone. The same tone he showed on questions about his future at Wigan and him joining NZ Warriors.

Regardless of what we all think of Mossops injury problems and or his lack of success in the NRL (how we can ever judge that I will never know given injurys) he is a quality prop and 90% would agree IMO. On his day he dominates and has go forward.

If fully fit we will have one hell of a pack even without Dudson and Taylor.
Some are never happy God, and would look for a negative if they won the Euromillions!!

What do you think of getting Joel back. Was that good business or did IL get lucky. Wether its on back of success or not a fit Mossop is an England international. IL has got 2 good players back this year by letting them taste the sun at other places.

But they comeback. Wether luck or good planning you got to say it seems to work.

For me

We made good money when he went and cost nothing to get him back

When fit he was a great player

Reading what IL said we have made provision in his contract if the injury comes back which makes good business

97% of the time the operation is a success good odds

Good interview on Wigan TV which hopefully answers some of the concerns raised.
