Pat Richards For Wigan
Re: Pat Richards For Wigan
From the posts on the West froum this guy has masses of potential, and most are very sad to lose him, looks like hes a quailty player if their reactions are anything to go by.
Here is a quote from the Sydney Roosters site, it is from a match report from a game against Wests, which suggests hes quite fast.
"From the ensuing set, Tigers speedster Pat Richards broke away in his own half, racing 70m to put the Tigers ahead 26-22 in the 56th minute."
Heres a pic for those who never watch the NRL on sky

Ahhh that i can. If you're looking for a player who has never had an injury and can guarantee that he'll last his contract without being injured... look again. Patty is quite injury prone however he has had a pretty good run with it this year so hopefully it won't happen again.Doug Stand posted:
He;s ex Parra so perhaps Vaealiki's lass can enlighten us some more.
Now on the other hand if you're looking for a player who has previously held the title for fastest player in the NRL, is a tryscoring genious, can take a high ball with his eyes closed (apart from the one in that pic lol) and has strength too.... then you've found him.
Patty is an ex-Parra boy, debuted with us at winger in 2000 after speeding his way through our lower grades. Listed as a winger, centre and fullback, but mainly plays as a winger, very rarely in centre or fullback. Never kicked when he was with us but has taken over most the kicking duties at Tigers and been pretty successful with it. Has an awesome long ball, can kick almost the length of the field on drop outs. Unfortunately he ended up with a terrible knee injury putting him out for the season and then re-injured it in training before his return. Because of the length of time he was out and the amount of good wingers Parra had we had to let him go. He was playing brilliant after he came back from it but during a trial match, i think in his second season with Tigers, he did the knee again. Had to have surgery but made a successful comeback and built himself up, was playing better than ever but i think from memory he injured his shoulder. Since coming back from that in 2004 he hasn't had a problem with injury.
To sum Patty up... great player as long as injury holds off, young and very talented, fast, strong, solid, loyal to whatever club he's at. Top bloke on and off the field, if you can't already tell i have a real soft spot for this player because of the work he put in at our club and also the way he treated the fans.
Oh (sorry this is already way too long) just to add another thing, played alongside Vaealiki in the juniors and also at first grade level for a little while. Put those 2 together and i think you'd have one heck of a partnership, once Dave's back from injury. Could be the push Dave needs to get his form back.
Hope this novel on Pat helps

Thanks for that, VG, and no, it's not too long! Great to have "inside info" from someone who knows him!
Sounds like a really good signing, apart from the injury worries...hope he's not going to be another of our many crocks1
Again thanks, and your posts are never too long!

No worries. Unfortunately i don't know too much about Gulavao's injury at the moment. Spoken to a few Panther's fans and they don't seem to know much either. All i could find out was that he had been at training but not really doing anything physicaljinkin jimmy posted:

You don't half talk some coaching twaddleSchalk Brits posted;
His length of drop punt could be useful if we play him at fullback but you don't want wingers coming out of their channel to take them
think IM will put major emphasis on more time doing ball handling skills on the training paddock. Mainly cohesion around the ruck , long passing and running lines and timing from the edge attackers which has been poor all season. This will be done using new passing drills and incorparating perhipheral vision, long passing, quick hands, "bad" passing drills etc. Put the weights away more and get their balls out!!! We should see significant improvment in a short time.

Re: Pat Richards For Wigan
Unfortunately these days in rugby league a contract does not necessarily mean a player will stick strong with a club. What i mean by loyalty is that he is not one to go back on a contract, if he signs with a club he will play out his contract with that club and play it out to his best ability. Anyone who saw Friday night's Tigers v Sharks match will understand what i mean. Some players after signing a new contract will give half-hearted attempts with their present club because they know they're not going to be there next year. Despite signing with Wigan Patty went out there and played hard for his current club. He is not a player who is about to walk out on a club or let them down is what i'm saying.Schalk Brits... posted:

Not anymore but he was at one stage according to their fastest player races. Since the injury he is still fast but not quite as fast as he was. Also put on a bit of muscle which possibly had an effect on his speed but added some strengthHe is steady, strong and quick(not so sure he is fastest in NRL though).Similar to Luke Rooney and Eric Grothe jnr.
I don't see why not. For the last year and a half Tigers have had him at Winger and coming in to take drop-outs and also kickoffs and kicks for goal. It works very well for themHis length of drop punt could be useful if we play him at fullback but you don't want wingers coming out of their channel to take them.
True but not all players end up with a serious injury every time they attempt to get back in the game. Some injure easier than others.Any player can get injured it comes with the territory
Was just my opinion on the guy
Was a good win wasn't it, even better one over Newcastle last night though!!! Widders is an unbelievable player and his speed is rather deceiving considering he's not exactly a small guy. To his credit our jerseys do make them look a little bigger round the belly than they actually are thoughNice win over Panthers at the weekend.Grothe and Widders outstanding (how good would he be if he lost his pot belly).

Oh i forgot to add that for those who wanted info on Joe Galuvao i have been told that you should see a return from Joe in about a months time providing there is no more damage done to the injury
