I see someone has said that the referee was rubbish. No surprise there then from Bentham is there?!?!

He is just SO incompetent
Do you not like Bentham, turf?

He had a decent game today, though there wasn't really an awful lot for him to do, quite a few knock-ons though.

He was tight on having a neat play-the-ball with no interference. The 'lending weight' rule is now interpretted better so that the tackle only stops when the ball carrier is properly tackled. I didn't see any errors from him.

I think he can be ok, but he has been one of those of those referees who I don't trust.

Rob your just biased

Why do people get carried away with friendly results. As Chris stated we won them all last year, beat Hudds too. Come the start of SL we were awful.

Re; Size. I hope Forshaw has not put everybody on the same programme. Certain players need upper body bulk, others need speed more than bulk. each player should have his own personalised programme surely?

He's relatively new to SL refereeing, I couldn't see anything he did wrong yesterday and no-one has mentioned anything.

Bentham was OK. I'm a little uneasy about this new interpretation of the "tackling into touch" ruling, if I can call it that. If just lending weight to help your man being tackled is not enough and you have to stop momentum, there's a worry those situations could end up a bit like a yawnion rolling maul, which would be a worry.

I drove home after match - through rain. sleet, hail and snow - with a big smile on my face. Rugby at least, met up with our mates, had a good shout and saw a lot of good things in our side's perforamnce. Once we iron out the wrinkles and get the defence close to the line a bit better organised we'll be reet, I think.

The tackling was very strong - players generally looked to have put muscle on - Leuluai looked sharp and also strong in defence, Gaz Hock is even more of a monster than he was last year, Lockers looked creative at stand-off though it will not be his usual role and the rest did fairly OK. Only Ashton had a downright bad 'un but it's just our first full-contact game, so let's keep it all in perspective.

Squad number 18!

Only injury was Feka. He went off and straight down the tunnel and looked in pain. Bailey was solid and Hock was the definate MOM in my eyes he was strong in every aspect.

The ref was poor but for both teams, however the wesather didnt help as the ball was everywhere.

Come on Nine; this was one of the main rules that people hated last season. There was always some confusion as to when a player had lent weight (when momentum 'changed.') whereas now the tackle is complete when momentum 'stops' (i.e. he stops still) or when his tackling arm hits the ground.

hes just dosnt know how far 10 yds is ,he plays with a very shallow 10 which means your oppenents are sraight in your face ,take into that the length of time he lets you lie on ,it means a very slow game ,which suited the giants more than us  bring back KK (not)
