Thanks Guy to be honest i didnt know what to do about this thread nowFROM A TO B posted:
In light of todays very sad news, I'll remove the sticky on this thread.
I'm sure that in the weeks and months to come, that the charitable side will continue and we can start a new thread to support Mikes family or others that are suffering from this terrible condition.
Thanks
Guy

Good idea Bear.
Maybe somebody can come up with some kind of song that can be dedicated to Mike.
Always will be a legend of the Game!

Re: Mike Gregory Charity W...
So has the walk been cancelled given Mike's passing or is there going to be a Ben Nevis walk in his memory instead?
I'm sure that Mike would have been touched at the thought of RL fans standing shoulder to shoulder and battling up Ben Nevis for a good cause.

I took it of the sticky due to being so far away.

I moved to the Lochaber (Fort William area) in May this year and what a fantastic idea and tribute to Mike to see all these fans wanting to do something in his memory.
What a sight to see, a stream of rugby league fans, especially Wigan climbing the Ben. I'm in!
Lots of places to stay in the Fort. More B&B's than you can shake a hairy stick at.
For those who like to camp/caravan, there is a site called Glen Nevis camp site and has all the usual facilities. It is also at the foot of the tourist route up the Ben.
One draw back though......there is only one pie shop in the Fort on the High street. Not bad, but nothing like you get in Wigan.
Good night life, enjoy the craic, but stay out of the Station Bar. That's were the Neds go.

Hi All the reason i have not updated this thread was out of respect for Mike Gregory
I could easily have posted last Monday night as i recieved an e-mail form Mike's Nephew. It read as follows:

Hi Gregor
Many thanks for your kind words regarding Mike.
It's like a bomb has dropped on us at the moment.
Please don't let Mikes tragic death end the idea of the walk, it's the last thing he would have wanted.
It would be an amazing way of raising awareness of MND and also of honouring Mike himself.
There are so many charities to raise money for.
Regards
Greg farrimond
This e-mail at that time when Greg had suffered a great loss really touched me so i though it best not to post till after Mike's funneral.
I hope Greg doesnt mind me puting his e-mail on this thread.
As for a date i was thinking of whatever saturday in May 2008 that would suit the majority of people taking part in the walk.
Let me know what you all think and hopefully we can get it sorted out and start fundraising.
Best best after date is set is for eveyone to make there travel & accomodation arrangements at start of next year.
Lets hope we can get more people involved and raise lots of money for agreat cause in Mike's Memory

Re: Mike Gregory Charity W...
Maybe set a concrete date in the next few weeks, some people may need to book time off work. I should be ok and the MMagic weekend is definately out for 80% of those willing to do the walk.
