Desi W wasn't really a signing in the sense the others were because he came through our academy system. His debut wasn't against Cas - it was the week prior against the Broncos when we mullered them by 60-odd points and he played well. In the Cas game the week after he leaked 2 tries in as many minutes and was rapidly substituted. And that was that. Never to be seen again. A shame - I thought that lad had potential.

EDIT - just seen GeoffN note and I repeat him

I stand corrected. Poor Desi will always be remembered for the Cas game. Not sure if he was playing for Cas that night but they signed an average winger from Aus called Paul Mellor but he was outstanding at catching kicks.

The only reason I reall Desi's initiation is because I took a mate to his first game that match and Desi caught his eye. He made a comment about his bright future and we ruined him for his 'insight' with his stinker at Cas. He made a similar comment about Shaun Ainscough this year and now carries the mantle "destroyer of careers".

I remember Brain Carney when he had a shocker on the wing for GB and summed it up thus:

"If your on the wing and you see the shepherds crook coming out for you, you know your not having a good one."
