Re: Sam's signing date

Why do we need another thread covering the same topic?
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Sam wants to go to the NRL,can you see any benefit in holding him to his contract and then he leaves for free. It's the way of the world, just face up and support a great side.

Unlikely Wes. He was registered long before IL appeared. And FWIW, I agree with him!

You ask a lot of questions that have already been answered. You can find them in the many threads that have discussed the matter.

I would add though that no one thinks they should have access to the club's transfer and financial dealings. They do however have a right to comment on them as supporters and paying customers and that is what people have been doing.

As your last point the main issue with Sam's transfer is the fact IL led us to believe he'd be here a minimum of three years and despite having a five year contract most people were realistic enough to accept it meant just three years. He as left after two years of this contract and so people feel short changed to put it mildly. Had we kept him to that three years we would still be able to get a transfer fee as he was still contracted to Wigan so your last question doesn't apply.

IL would also be getting zero flak had he done so. He would have been complimented for doing a good job in bad circumstances but instead is, rightfully in my opinion, being slagged off for misleading the fans. You can't make promises like that, go back on them and expect to come up smelling of roses.

In general at some point the club is going to have to hold players to their contracts or we won't have a decent side. They should have started with Sam especially given that special contract that was supposed to prevent him from speaking to other clubs.

Sam broke that clause in his contract and IL failed to enforce it. I have an issue with the pair of them for that. I am curious as to why you don't.

Professional sport NOW including RL has reached a point where one of the best RL journalists in world Steve Mascord has now decided to refuse to interview senior officials at any RL club because they now simply lie to him. This is not some crazy fan as the likes of IL would like to write people off as, this a man with more RL knowledge than but a handful of people in the world, a true RL visionary who has had enough of the lies pedaled in RL today. Danny Lockwood the editor of one of our RL weeks said do not take such radical action just accept as I do that whenever I speak to a senior official they lie.

Is this what RL has sunk to?

DaveO, if IL gave Sam permission to leave and speak to other clubs then even though Sam was still contracted to us he never broke any clauses regarding his contract.

I apologise for my earlier post, it was a joke that seems to have hit a nerve as I have received a moderator warning which was not my intention. Sorry to all concerned, Stuey I hope you don't mind me calling you that as its much easier than Kitwazzer to type.

Sorry Wes but I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Unless you've deleted something that I missed?

Sorry Stuey, I'll explain myself a bit better, I call you by your true name all of the time and its fine but earlier in thread I did so with someone else and got a moderator warning so I was apologising to him and asking you if you don't mind that I call you your true name as to not get another moderator warning :-)

So it's IL's fault then. Why would he give a player permission to speak to other clubs when he went out of his way to get the player to sign a contract forbidding him to do so?

The tired old "we don't want to keep a player who wants to leave" excuse doesn't wash. If that is your attitude getting the player to sign as contract like Sam's does not make any sense. Unless you want to deliberately mislead people of course!
