I don't see how 'paying off' players makes space under the salary cap. The 'paying off' money will count on the cap.
Correct.
Players can retire and not get paid but if more retire from Saints this season and others come in then the RFL should ask for access to clubs finances or not even sanction the replacements.
They should go as far as to ask for independent medical assessment of each player.

You got a name check on the Lance RedVee thread. Apparently you're a prat!
Seriously, I have never seen anything more disingenuous on a RL forum. Since his arrival, he has had nothing but the Pat Richards year one treatment. Now they are all saying what a grand chap he is and wishing him luck.
Pathetic!
.
Yes, thanks for that. Found it---Notoriety at last.
After what they've called you over the last few years, I'll take that as a complement.
In the pub after the game tonight, I just might resurrect that comment I made, you know, something like "There's a fellow on the Wigan supporters pages reckons the Saints speccies blah blah blah etc" There's a fair sprinkling of 'em get in there cluttered round two tables analyzing the game. Yeah, I'll throw that one in.[/quote]
Some one says you've got 12 fingers.
There's not half some bile being spouted on that board.

Probably they think it's normal. A lot of them worked at Beechams you know.

Hohaia may have quit Saints for the reasons stated but I can't see any action being taken against Ben Flower or Wigan RLFC regarding the Grand Final incident.
If it did end up in court Flower's barrister would verbally take apart Hohaia's claim about the GF bearing in mind the Saints man raced 25 meters to smash his elbow/forearm into Flower's jaw.
The last thing anyone from Saints would want is to answer questions over the incident in a court room.

As I said previously, he willingly and knowingly continued playing in spite of his knowledge of a "concussion-type" injury.
The Club and the RFL andthe player have a Duty of Care.
Under the Health & Safety at Work Act everybody as a duty for their own safety.
He is and was clearly in breach of that.

Have heard that Cunningham and Hohaia have had a couple of dressing room head-to-heads where the raised voiced were even heard through the closed doors.
Came to a head after the Hull defeat

Word on the street is that Wheeler and Hoffman are closely monitoring developments.
Meanwhile, Jim Mills had taken precautions by transferring all assets into his wife's name.
Charley Pausey's descendants were unavailable for comment!

Super League Won't investigate Hohaia retirement
Rugby league officials have no plans to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Lance Hohaia’s sudden retirement.
Hohaia announced on Wednesday he was quitting the sport with immediate effect and later said he was calling time on his career due to “recurrent post-match concussion type symptoms”.
He also revealed he was seeking medical advice to assess the potential effects on his long-term health.
Hohaia was knocked unconscious by Wigan prop Ben Flower in a sickening Grand Final assault.
But Blake Solly, the Super League’s general manager, said they were unlikely to investigate because Flower’s attack had already been dealt with.
“As far as we’re concerned at the Rugby Football League, the matter has already been dealt with,” Solly told the Guardian.
“There was a disciplinary panel last October which appropriately dealt with matters when we suspended Ben. We won’t be going any further into it.
“That’s as far as the RFL’s involvement into it stretches.”
