Cooper doesn’t come free!
No but we're likely to get rid of Partington for at least 2023, likely Isa too & KPP could be gone for a fee.
Isa has just signed a 2 year deal in the last month or so
He signed that deal back in November 2021 until the end of 2023...

Fair enough. I was sure it was a lot more recent. Either way he's contracted for an extra year and I don't see why anyone would offer money for us to release him or why he would want to go elsewhere

wgwr1999 wrote: Mon Jun 27, 2022 10:07 pm We're losing at least two centres from our 2022 wage list -- Hardaker & Bibby -- so, in theory, we should be signing like-for-like replacements with two of the three rumoured names in Gildart, Wardle & Leutele.

I personally think we are somewhat set at every other position -- especially if Tommy continues.

In regards to Isa, I agree about the lack of interest in him. I assume it'd be a "mutually agreed" release if anything.

In regards to Partington leaving either on loan or permanently, that has been reported to be happening for a while. I don't see why we would just add a forward into this team when multiple SL quality forwards already miss out every single game when everyone is healthy -- usually Isa, Shorrocks & Partington.

As things stand all three will be gone by the end of 2024, performances can obviously change things, Id be shocked if we offered Partington or Isa a new deal to be honest. KPP i think will end up leaving at the end of this year.

None are set in stone though, its just their contractual situations that currently determine when they are likely to leave.

Do need someone to replace Thornley/KPP though & Matty doesn't seem to want to give Halsall the chance over Isa. Think it would be ideal to still go for Wardle or even Leutele even if Ollie returns but not sure how realistic that would be.
Halsall had a good run out for Newcastle at number 4 (also Hanley scored a nice try).

Trust me - I'm not the one who needs convincing on Halsall.

9 tries in 7 games for Newcastle this year from a strong running 6'2 outside back at the age of 20?

No idea why he doesn't start regularly for us if I'm completely honest.

His performances at Newcastle do not necessarily translate to warranting a first time starting position at Wigan.

Either Peet is choosing to be patient or he sees things that aren’t right. He has had enough opportunity to play Halsall this year and has decided against.

Got cracking potential though, hope he develops, gets his chance and takes it.

Whilst I agree with a you say Peet must see something that he feels is better learned outside of the wigan first team,I hope he gets whatever it is he needs to get sorted and comes back a better player, there's no need to rush him.

I'm always under the assumption that if you dominate the lower divisions, whether it be youth rugby or championship level, then that translates to being able to play top level barring disaster. If he was just plodding along scoring every other game in a top championship side, I would have my doubts, but 9 tries in 7 games for a struggling side?

Also, for an outside back, you can be productive without being the complete package. Look at Miski -- he's not really good at anything yet can finish off moves & that makes him useful in the squad.
