Great win considering it’s the week after a final

Agreed, the problem was at halfback . Hampshire has had 2x chances now at both fullback & standoff and has been woeful on both occasions. He’s had his opportunity and now it’s time to bring young Farrimond in for his chance.Firestarter wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 8:49 amFrench as played fullback brilliantly in the past so i reckon the problem was elsewhere
I’ve never been convinced by Hampshire never will be the argument that he covers positions maybe he does but can young players not be brought in and given a go?last night was to me a prime example of giving the kids a go against a very poor Cas side, missed opportunity for me.Wigan_forever1985 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 9:25 am Must admit my view on Hampshire was that he was a solid super league pro who when we needed cover would be able to plug a gap
His last two appearances haven’t been that and has felt like he’s been less solid than a youngster would have been
Completely agree.Hattster wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 8:58 amAgreed, the problem was at halfback . Hampshire has had 2x chances now at both fullback & standoff and has been woeful on both occasions. I used to like Hampshire but unfortunately he’s way past his sell by date.
It was another Thaler decision to try and keep us as close to Cas as possible.Southern Softy wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 10:20 am Well, it was awful ......... but we won. That's about it really. Lucky we had Thompson, Cooper, Ellis playing at something like their true form.
Never like to be rude about a pro but it seems obvious that Hampshire can't do it at our level anymore. He's old enough and experienced enough not to be making the same mistakes - dying with the ball - hesitating before passing etc. that he's done in the past and he's not going to change now. Time to say thankyou and play one of the lads against London at FB with French back in the halves.
Incidentally, can anyone explain the bizarre decision to penalise French for some kind of obstruction offence? French was always ahead of everyone on our side and I didn't see a Cas player moved out of the way.
