If Nobby goes.........
Re: If Nobby goes.........
Can we keep the personal insults out of the thread. To my knowledge Piggy was Noble's second choice after his preferred choice Newton. IMO both were bad choices.
IFL wants to bring the young players through. Noble does not. That is the crux of the conflict. In that scenario the coach should always go because the owner is the ultimate voice of a club and if you disagree with how he wants the club to operate you should walk.
Noble has been gone for over a month now. Do you remember early in the season when the Bradford owner refuted speculation linking Noble to the job of head coach at Bradford. Noble was publically furious that Bradford had spoken out and killed the speculation. He said I never comment on spculation. Why should a coach be furious with another club when they support the present job holder and speak out publically. Why is Brian Noble now prepared to speak about speculation?
This is the same Brian Noble who applied for a job elsewhere whilst still in post in order to force the owner to extend his contract IIRC. What comes around goes around.
The present owner is doing nothing different than what ML and DW did. Nobody can say otherwise on the point. It is fact. Lest we forget poor Mike Gregory for those wanting DW back.
Noble is an operator. So is IFL. Fans have known for a long time if they care to admit it that Noble is going and so are 2 others I believe. The players have known too.

Just had a strong hint that Shaun Wane will be the next Wigan coach.

whats your hint CP because iv'e heard otherwise but he would be a good choice for me
Re: If Nobby goes.........
A contact I trust 18th. I would prefer an Aussie personally but Wane has done a very good job with the Reserves. I think he is a typical British coach but a very good motivator.

Re: If Nobby goes.........
fair enough. i'd be happy with Wane or Lammy. anybody but Noble really except Millward.
busy few months ahead. i just hope if we cant sign any internationals we snap up our youngsters before somebody else does
one big plus for Wane is beacause he has coached alot of the lads in the sqaud before and helped them get to the level they are he has there respect straight away

But it did not work at Bradford, did it. Send the organ grinder to Wigan and the monkey steps up. If that level of expertise was already in the club IL could have moved BN up to director of rugby. Was it not IL that did that to Tony Rae at london.

What about Mike Gregory taking over from Raper? Your argument holds no water Jim. Nearly all coaches have graduated from being assistant coaches at some point.highland convert wrote:But it did not work at Bradford, did it. Send the organ grinder to Wigan and the monkey steps up. Dennis Betts taking over from Gregory, What I am saying is that if IL rated SW so highly Noble could have been shunted upwards months ago. He did it before. Only 14 SL coaches positions up for grabs. Mostly go to down under so of the handful left for locals we have the right one in house. Lottery ticket odds.

Re: If Nobby goes.........
We have a Director of Coaching, Ray Unsworth. Far better qualified for that particular position than Brian Noble. London did not have a Director of Coaching.
Brian Noble deliberately surround himself with his own team that are not future SL coaches. Vievers et al. The only non Noble YEs men at Wigan are Ray Unsworth, Shaun Wane and Kris Radlinski.
Assistant coaches to coaches. Let's see; John Monie, Wayne Bennett, Craig Bellamy, Daniel Anderson
Assistant to the Assistant Coach then Assistant Coach to the Coach Brian Noble

Ah but did they replace the top UK coach allowing him to pick up his carreer with another team. Bradford did and it came back to bite them. I think IL is listening to too many armchair experts and whingers on the forums. The lads had a bad night last ninght but it is not the end of the world but it is for some onn here. Noble should still be our coach next year. I think IL has lost the plot if he does not have a big name lined up,
