At the beginning of the year was 2% as our pay rise was calculated on it then rose to 3.5%. I suggest maybe it was calculated on this as it is predicted to drop below 2% again in the future.

I know lots of people laid of this year and not because the company wanted to its because it had gone bust. I still think Heinz staff should jump at the pay rise as if inflation falls through the floor the could offer nothing and be in their rights to.

More than 1,200 striking production workers at the giant Kitt Green plant won a key concession at Wednesday’s meeting with bosses.

But the removal of the threat to the productivity bonus scheme, which paid up to £2,000 per worker this year, wasn’t enough to see union leaders at Unite recommending calling off industrial action.
But Heinz claim that their updated pay offer is one of the highest in the industry and builds on some of the best packages in the sector. They say the current offer to factory workers is equivalent to four per cent this year and three per cent in 2011.
Unite has rejected the offer and are not willing to put it forward for consideration by Heinz workers

I don't really care for this thread much

My one point, why do people tow the Government line around zero or even minus inflation?

This will NEVER happen in the UK. Far to many greedy fat cat corporations/business's extorting the last drip of blood from every stone (and we haven't even seen the 2.5% VAT increase and the inflationary problems that will cause)
