Each team is coached to a specific game plan and the only thing that upsets the best laid plans of the coaches are the unforced errors, the lack of discipline, poor defensive reads and sloppy tackling. No matter how many "plans" Tony Smith or Brian McDermott have, neither can change a thing if his team makes a string of unforced errors etc. The only thing any coach can do differently is make sure his bench covers for any situation and swap those on field players around should they be struggling (for whatever reason) during gameplay
Watching Melbourne beat Leeds reminded me of Wigan under Madge. One tactic/ploy I think I may have seen us use v London and we need more of is a short back inside pass to Sam al a Slater. If all we do is use second man plays it can become predictable. Likewise, I loved the angle Hoffman too as the lead runner for the 1st try. Even if they didn't there is still the issue of whether or not "the" game plan is effective from one week to the next. Wane has changed the game pan from Madge so in the context of this thread there is discussion on him having done that never mind whether he is capable of switching things around mid-game if it isn't working.
