Wow how generous of you! Mathers "tried" also yet you crucified him
Mathers was a league lad and yes he was and is mediocre. I compared Young to Evans. Hence, tried compared to could not be bothered. Stop trying to score points. You will lose

League lad or not is irrespective. He had recently (at that point) returned from a serious knee injury. Whether Wigan should have signed him is another discussion but on his previous form for Leeds looked a very good prospect

Andy Powell has signed for Wigan today on a three year deal.... 100%.... My source also said he's a complete nut job and wished us good luck with his dodgy calf.

Was that what caused him to withdraw today?

It must have happened pretty quick, when I heard a few rumours on Friday I asked my source and he said he hadn't heard anything at all about andy Powell leaving. Then out of the blue today he rang me to tell me that he had signed a three year deal with us, that he was a nutter and that we should beware of his dodgy calf!! That's all I know

On the subject of taking a punt on players with a Union background, I notice British Olympic shot putter Lawrence Okoye is going to have a crack at trying out for the NFL. If he doesn't make it in the US and, let's face it, that is likely, we should offer him a trial: Former London Irish academy winger, 6ft 6ins, 21 stone and can run the 100 metres in 11.0 seconds!

Go down a few threads on the rumour mill board there is a thread for a player from New Zealand player training with us with the initials AB. Now could it be it was actually AP and some one made 2+2= 5 again and then thought New Zealand and that it was Powell who was training with the club.

He'll just go back to athletics or RU (more money)no chance of playing RL.
