Who said there has been one for the last five years?
IF there is a clique maybe it has developed this season.

Fair enough. I thought they were mates. I thought that whole group that came through at that time were.

Some would think the same as you but There is a big difference in being friends than a clique. As josie's discription of a clique elequantly puts it. By the way to me it is still a click :D

Good for you. "Click" is an alternative to "clique" It is a colloqial expression and can be found in the"Urban dictionary"It's meaning is synonymous with "clique"(I can't believe what I am about to say to a northerner and Wiganers to boot. I learned the meaning of "click" from my northern roots "clique" is phonetically pronounced Kleeck but in the north click" as well. T

In fact grammer constrains how people actually speak. If you put a Texan with a Devonan or Wiganer all who profess to speak English chances are they wouldn't understand each other. But that is not the case here JA understood perfectly what was being said so correction wasn't nessesary. Some of us didn't pass our 11 plus ie me Criticism of that nature could put would be postegrs off joining the forum. Mispellings that do not impede understanding are of no linguistic significance :) I left some words misspelled for which I make no apology.

Given it could be argued we only have very few key players in the squad of which Bateman is one how many would that be? One? Two?

I'd go for that top keep Bateman!
Bear in mind that a clique is just a group of friends. If something happened to one of your friends would you side with them, or whoever else was involved?
A clique is not just a group of friends. If there is a clique of players within the Wigan squad, we'd be better off without them.
I'm going for a clique of Lockers, Sam, Joel, Mossop, Faz, Micky Mac.

Lets can em all!

Correct, and it was me who mentioned it first off.
I just find it strange that it has never been mentioned before even though SW has been assistant and head coach for the last 5-6 years bringing through many youngsters he worked with in the juniors during this time, yet no mention of a clique until what just over a week ago because of an off the field incident and how it is being handled!! Just seems coincidental to me!! But maybe I am wrong!!

I am going for no clique at all, just a group of people that think what one of their teammates did was out of order, does that mean they want him sacked? If anyone knows that then you must be well in the know and probably shouldn't be talking about it on a forum!!

I also vote no clique. Just concerned colleagues.

I think this suspended for 4 matches might be right as that means he would be back for the Cas cup match which is a must win game for me.

It's funny how often in RL a suspension lasts only until an important match!!

That may be so but he will not be match fit. Look what happened last time we played Cas in t'cup when we brought a number of players back from injury.
