Re: Wigan to sign Gleeson?
What concerns me is that its been said that Warrington are getting rid of the trouble makers like Gleeson.Have we not got enough problems and have we not taken enough chances on players with problems that have back fired so far ie-Smith,Mathers,pryce.If Gleeson is a problem for Warrington then we don't need or want another at wigan.

So he is the same age as Bailey who turns 29 on 25th May as wellGeoffN wrote:Accurate, but only just! He turns 29 in about 6 weeks time.pieater-alex wrote:Just to clarify.
Martin Gleeson should he sign tomorrow is 28.
Should he sign for the 2010 season he will be 29.

As Dave says, that's still too old.

And I know who I would rather have and its not the englishman :sly:

Re: Wigan to sign Gleeson?
And if he was rumoured to be moving to the NRL, why, if he is that good did he not go and is still at Warrington. Did no Aussie club rate him high enough?
It is a load of tosh saying at the forums that we are building a Wigan team with a majority of Wigan lads or players that have come through our academy systems, when you are now looking at a lad, albeit from Wigan, who is not going to be here for more than 3 or 4 years.
Where is this stability of keeping a team together and just bringing in 1 or 2 young lads, not keep changing the structure year in year out. Its no wonder we can't progress and win anything, there is no bonding with each other, there are no relationships in the team! they are just people who work together and thats it. It will never be a team to win anything if they don't know one another, know how each other plays, where each other will be, what each one is thinking. They need to be as one unit! not 13 individuals doing their own bitty and hoping it will work out cos it bloody well isn't doing.
We have great reserve and academy players who seem to work for each other and win games and trophies, but when they get promoted to the senior team they are just thrown in at the deep end without a snorkel or a pair of flippers and are left to flounder and they either sink swim or just paddle along. They lose the sense of being in a team and become an individual again.
It is killing me to say this but if you insist on signing more overseas players (Hunt rumour) and players nearing the end of their career (Gleeson rumour) I'm afraid I will be seriously contemplating on not renewing my season ticket
It may not be next year or the year after, but if this state of affairs continues it may just happen sooner than I really want it to.
That is my rant over, sorry for the tirade folks. It may not make sense to you lot but I know what I mean

Re: Wigan to sign Gleeson?
If that is thecase then we cannot sign him because IL stated we had what £30,000 left on the cap and would need to offload players in order to acommodate his salary which is a 6 figure one at Warrington and unlikely to be less at Wigan.
