but MrsLam, when we signed Vaelaeki it was said he could play full back, when Melling was having his nightmare I was shouting for them to move Vaelaeki to full back, sounds like his quality at full back was as good as his tackling and speed :exc:
Vaealiki did the job at fullback, he could have caught more ball than he did but I didn't think UTC were very dangerous on the kicks. He dropped one ball to my recollection which went backwards and he recovered. His tackling wasn't really tested last night but his speed is poor and his urgency is worse than everyone elses, even by last nights standards.

They seemed to going for different kinds of kicks. Only a couple of high kicks from UTC, most were long kicks between DV and whichever winger was around (as opposed to Moron's kicks which seemed to be just directed straight at whichever UTC player was easiest to kick to), forcing him to try and do some running. Whether it was his lack of speed, or a fast chase from UTC, or a bit of both, but he found 6 chasers on him as soon as he got the ball almost every time last night. He was making no ground at all returning the kicks. The high kicks weren't impressive either, the first one saw DV and either Dallas or Brown (can't remember who) both go for it with seemingly no-one taking charge. A basic error of receiving a kick, you've got to call for it.

DV can't take all the blame for the lack of speed though, the entire team seemed to be stuck in 2nd gear in that respect. UTC seemed far faster than us in most aspects of the game, especially runs from first receiver or dummy half, and that goes equally for the support players. Theirs were keeping up with the ballcarrier - I think ours were still sitting in the changing room!

Only Flav. His performance was good as always, even if it was a bit in vain.

I'd forgotten that one! Yes, it was Dallas.
