Sorry, but I disagree as if you have a Referee blatantly playing to a home crowd like Silverwood did last night, all teams playing at Headingley would find it a uphill struggle.

Some of it was laughable especially the Ward incident where we should have had a penalty because Ward just wouldn't let Bateman go to join in the attack, then as Bateman took exception Ward clearly headbutts him yet Leeds get the penalty.
The 2 knock ons were clear, no exceptions at all it was horrible refereeing. Moon was a mile offside when the kick went in too, it was embarrassing.
Leului should have been given 10 for the blatant trip, if he hadn't Bowen would be right under the posts either tackled just short or scored, the Leeds defence was struggling.
High swinging arm on Sutton when he was through, all commentary said it was a brilliant try saver.....it was a high tackle.
Rat face try was debatable it looked for all the world his hip was in touch 50/50 again went against us.
We have posters blaming our own play....but hang on if we had got them calls and had the game been called even by the officials we win, we scored as many try's without getting a single big decision all night, when we were allowed to play we put them under serious pressure, we consolidated possession in there half for long periods and we played with integrity unlike the officials.
IMO we have nothing to fear from Leeds.
I know you are not a massive fan of the way we play or SW but in general there are 3 reasons why you lose. 1 is the other team outplays you, 2 you as a team play really bad and finally 3 you get cheated!! I agree with you completely God, last night we were cheated, away at Wire we were awful, big difference!!
Great post!!

No wonder they are top!
We had chances to win the game but failed to take them.Of course Silverwood was poor and gave us very little however we did not execute the chances we created and paid the price.

Ditto. I was convinced it was physically impossible for McGuire to touch down before his arse hit the touchline. The trip on Mango was a disgrace and had anyone other than the sainted Sir Kevin fumbled, a half decent ref would have blown up immediately.
Agree we have nothing to fear from Leeds, we closed down their tick and pass game to perfection. Its the referees we need to be wary of!

Silverwood allowed Leeds to close a 10m gap to 8 or 7m continuously last night, it helped their defence massively.
Get that 10m nearer 10m with an unbiased official and Leeds would struggle with Wigan. Leeds tired towards the end of the game more than we did. One thing Wane said last night that I think is very true was that Leeds know Wigan can get better than last nights performance.

Silverwood does the same with Leeds in every game with Wigan and did it at the last home game against them.
Goes back 10 meters, Leeds go back 8 and he then walks forward to them.

We need to learn and adapt our tactics to suit his style of refereeing. Although I take your point about how far back he takes the defensive lines of both teams.
