Referees performance and the Sin Bin

Now that referees are full time shouldn't they have a performance appraisal after every match, judged by an independant panel using video evidence?

Last night, Wigan played for a quarter of the game with 12 players on the field. Both players Sin Bimmed for what could be called "technical offences". In the same match, one of the Leeds players was put on report but stayed on the field! He may lose a game but Leeds will still be able to field 13 players. Doesn't seem right to me.
Any comments?

Totally agree, referee's should be made fully accountable for their decisions on the match day/night. More impotus should be placed upon direct decisions regarding possible sending off offences to benefit the opposing team. Too easy a cop-out by placing the player on-report.
Referee's are full time professionals now, and should be taken to task for poor displays. A reduction/deduction of pay for out of standard performances as monitored by an independant panel of club representatives would be my suggestion.

Do clubs have independent panels which use video evidence to decide whether players should be dropped following bad performances?

Then why should referees? The fulltime referees do video training in the week and go through all their performances on DVD pointing out areas for improvement. The decisions are made by their coach.

Bailey should have been shown a card for his high shot, especially as the touch judge saw it.

I agree with the above. On report is a good system for incidents that a referee has not seen properly but if one of the officials had a good view of the incident and there is no element of doubt that a high shot was deliberate then the player should walk.

The first part is a stupid idea. You can't just dock someones wages because they have a bad day at work. No referee goes out with the intention to have a bad game. If they did then you would have a call for taking some form of disciplinary action, but you can't take money from them.

Incidently, clubs do have their say to Stuart Cummings and changes to interpretation are usually as a direct result of club requests.

He had a word about the high shots because, with the exception of Bailey's one attempt at decapitation, they were more careless tackling than dangerous and malicious play. Thackray could have taken ten for me though.

You can't argue with Hock going, he pulled at Burrow three times in order to slow their momentum.
