Im freezing and drenched but who cares! Just got home now, what a great match.
They were completely outplayed, well done to all our lads! 100% effort again and a result. See you all at Leeds next week (?) ready to thrash yet another team.
Faz had a surprisingly good game, glad he worked through the illness and injury. I'm going warming up and watching the match again :D

Tremendous outcome but I'm afraid I disagree with you to a certain extent MrsLam, I didn't think we played with 100% effort, there were quite a few breaks from Stains in the first half and then in the second we kept the line but gave them acres of space to play in. I'm not taking anything off the win, it was fantastic, but there are a few chinks that want looking at. If it wasn't for a few errors we'd have won by a much more comfortabel margin.

As for Faz, well he suprised me how well he played although I was a bit worried that he needed to seen to everytime the ball went out of play, can't be doing his knee any good. I also thought that he didn't look fully fit when running, the man is a king and it's superb how he is so enthusiastic but as I say I cringed every time he was tackled.

I think you are being way too harsh there. I am a pretty stern critic but the stats show a 100% completion rate inthe first half. That was 40 mins of the best RL I have seen from Wigan in a long time. 34-6 v Saints, what more do you want?

The second half score flattered Saints. Two of their tries at the end never were by a mile. What the ref was looking at surely was not the game with forward passes, knock ons and the like.

We had the game won and didn't need to bust a gut to put another 34 on them. It was them who had to play not us.

agree with dave o. the 100% completion ratin in the first half showed how good we were, especially inside the saints 20. devastatin..

kirkpatrick really did let alot of stuff slide in the last 15 mins.. & made saints look like the put up a fight when really we just cruised for the second 40.

great game.. glad i went.. tokk forever to get there & forever to get home!!!! LOL but worth it..
oh good turnout to.... only 21+ turned out...
brilliant...

as for faz i think he played on heart, bet he is sore this morning! hope he is fit for next weekend..
& lammy to.. he looked in a lot of pain when he came off...
well done lads.. & well done everyone who went!!!!!!!!!! what a night!

Yep in the first half I think we could have given anyone a belting, but yes in the second half Kirkpatrick did let a lot slide....probably because he felt sorry for Saints and wanted them to look more respectable than they played.
Fair enough in the last 15 mins or so of the second half we did let off the pressure a lot, but what was the point in going in for tackles full throttle when it could result in injuries for what we know, either way, would have been a difficult game next week.
I'd just like to say that I was quite impressed with Kirkpatrick on Friday. He wasn't too wistle happy, appeared to be quite a fair ref who just wanted the flow of the game to be fast, but like I said earlier the sympathy vote for the Saints was a little wrong.
