Millard....

It might seem a bit churlish to bring this up after what ended up a very good win but surely now the penny must drop with all the fans that Millard is past it.
People will focus on Feka and attribute our go-forard to him but for me the difference was that in the middle part of the game Higham was on for longer than usual and things started happening.
I am convinced Higham is NOT simply the impact player people seem to think but a player that grows into a game the longer he is on. He probes the defence works it out and then he makes his characteristic breaks.
He is wasted being on a 20 minute rotation and is a leat a 60 minute player.
When he went off at the end Millard tried a break and simply had no pace to get anywhere.
I think it is very negative to play Millard from the start and we are always looking to one man, Barrett, from the kick off to do something when Millard is on the pitch. The opposition only have to worry about one man because they know Millard is no danger.
Against HKR last week we had no go forward at all from dummy half and so its about time Higham got the nod and MvIllorum get some game time.

Completely agree, Dave. Higham was excellent tonight, both in attack and in defence. Millard was neither.

It won't happen, Millard is a Noble signing pure and simple.

I agree. Nobby appears to be displaying a lot of loyalty to Millard, which is admirable in a way, but if it's affecting the way the team performs, he's got to go. I'm sure Nobby could find a coaching / mentoring role for him if he's intent on using his experience, but Mickey H and Mike Mc must be getting very frustrated

Higham showed that he thrives on extra game time tonight. Often people only praise his dummy-half runs, but his distribution and speed of passing were first-class tonight.
Agree that Millard is too slow - the idea is often there but the execution isn't.

Higham must be chomping at the bit when Millard is on the field. Higham did seem to get alot more game time last night though. Thought he relished it, and scored a fine 4 pointer too.

You don't mean there are some wigan fans who actually rate him do you Dave,
Strangely enough there are. I posted more the less the same concerns about Millard on rlfans last night and a poster who goes by the moniker of johnh who is one or the more sensible ones defended him and we had to agree to disagree on Millards merits or lack of them.
Then there are those who won't see any criticism of any player in a Wigan shirt and will try to find positives where there are none. Millard has had this sort of support on that board as well.
I thought last nights game showed up such a stark contrast between Higham and Millard that no one could not see it. That is why I posted it last night while the performance was fresh in everyone's memory. I was quite shocked even after that game johnh was defending him.

Millard is a vital player to this squad. The 2 games away to Leeds he was outstanding. He might not be the quickest player at times but he reads the play well.Higham is class and quality and at times to quick, get off Millards back he doesnt deserve it!
