Can Mike or Fraggle tell me how I can change my avatar because whenever I try it keeps using previous avatars.

When I try a PNG file it puts up the last PNG file I had up, similarly with JPG and GIF. :doz:

robjoenz... I had a similar problem with my home PC, the only way I can change my picture is via another computer... it must be the IP or something similar.

whenever at home I want a new picture it always keeps my existing one regardless...

hope this helps in some way

Perhaps its a similar problem as the "Automatic Poster" one where some information is not being received by the server?

Sorry, I'm not actually familiar with the technical wizardry that drives this website. That's all Mike's baby, although a generally well-developed baby it certainly is! The same-ip-address thing might be right, although I've only ever changed my pic once and I've no idea if it was from the same machine or not.

I'll look into it. Its probably a permissions thing with the new server or something.

The problem is caused by your browser in the following way:

You upload a new .gif image.
It gets re-named with the same name as your old one (on the server).
Your browser sees that the image has the same name as one it has cached and shows you the old one.

If you right click on the image and select "View Image" or something, or go back to the message board and click your browsers refresh button you should see your correct image. Either that or use FireFox [url]http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/[/ur] which seems to handle this a bit better.

Hope this helps
Mike
