I think harlequins have signed Newton after he fell out with the Knights about 2 weeks ago.I am not totally sure but I think I read it on a rugby league news page some where.

This news snippet, I suspect, arrived at the Daily Star via press release from the St Helens office of PR and propaganda.

How better to sell another crap signing (Hargreaves being the first) to your fans than by telling them you had to beat your arch-rivals off in the race for his signature?

Let them pip us. I sincerely hope they do.

That is £85K a season. Wigan could afford that under the cap but it really depresses me to think we would be targeting a player who would be 31 before he arrived. I don't care how good he has been it has got to be a risk that he won't last the distance.

As to Wild, I can't believe we would re-sign him when we have Hock, Lockers, Tomkins and Hansen in the back row and all bar Tomkins have a contract for next season and beyond in most cases.

Wild has developed into a good back rower, with genuine pace. I for one was surprised when they let him go

I think if we wanted wild it would be for a center not back row IMO

I for one would regard that as a backward step. Sorry, but Wild did nothing while he was at Wigan. Okay, he may have improved a little since then, but I'd sooner we went for a specialist centre rather than a guy who's basically the wrong shape to fit in any other position.

As for Big Civ, I'm with Dave O. A great player in the past, but really, if we were going to move for an Aussie prop, it should've been Ryles. He's several years younger and was (allegedly) keenly interested in joining Wigan.

Our best hope now is that Coley is coming, which will give us an interchange of 5 props for next year, and that rather than moving for a top prop, we move for a top centre - Yeaman maybe, or possibly King, though I admit he's likely to be too expensive.
