Does it physically hurt to stay and clap the team after the effort they have put in? We didnt win the game but we could have made the lads feel like they did.
I don't care if someone has been going for 70 years and is not after the silverware, thats not the point, theres nothing more annoying than seeing people not pay their respects to a team who have given absolutely everything and more this season.

They did say 4 a bit an clap. but like i say. wigan fans dont have 2 stay there after the game 4 ages. Most of them proberly do clap an show their respect to the lads. an there r those that go straight away or just b4 the game finishes.

yes i no how u feal. they r stupid an they should show their respect to the lads. people dont need 2 stay 4 ages after the game, as long as they show their respect an clap, that is anuf.

I'm sorry to bring this topic up after such a brave performance from the lads last night but it's bugged me all night ...

After the final hooter went last night quite a number of 'Wigan' fans got up from their seats and started to leave.
What bugs me is that some people shoot their mouth off without thinking. At the hooter we upped and left. Why? because my Dad is in his late seventies and has trouble walking.

The mere fact he made the effort to go to the game is enough and he cannot indulge in a brisk walk back to the coach after waiting around for presentations and being as he is does not expect an entire coach load to wait around while he does.

We also bumped into a couple of his friends at the match. Similar vintage and even worse on their feet and almost pegging out having had to climb up several flights of stairs only to walk down umpteen steps to their seats at the front of the £30 allocation. They left on the hooter as well. For the same reason.

I dare say those of you who are moaning probably past us on the way back to the coaches.

At the JJB we never leave before the players have come over to the east stand, win or lose, but when facing a long walk back to the coaches at finals we don't hang around. Glory seekers my arze.

Got to admit Dave you have a very fair point there and you're quite right because depending on where you end up in OT it can be like climbing the north face of the Eiger and walking away from the place can be quite intimidating if you get caught up in a crowd, I think the complaint really is about the fans who shoot off to get an extra pint in etc and just can't be bothered with such things as thanking the team for its efforts but I guess we should all accept that people have their own reasons for leaving early, it can't be nice for the players though to see great chunks of the crowd disappearing before the end of the game and it would be nice if those who were able would stay behind that extra ten minutes. Hope you and your Dad had a good day (despite the result) and that he suffered no ill effects.
Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

There were three generations of us there. My 9 year old son at his first final, me and my Dad.

We had £30 tickets (no concessions for either son or Dad) so as to avoid having to climb into the Gods as my Dad would just not be able to make it.

As it was we ended up climbing about four flights of stairs only to have to walkdown to two rows from the front of the £30 allocation. A steward pointed out the exit right in front of us and said we didn't need to climb back up the steps when it was time to leave - which was quite a nice touch as he had seen my Dad struggle a bit.

One of the friends of his we met had a walking stick and had to do the same.

So being a season ticket holder who travels from Chester to home games, one who never leaves the JJB early, having paid out nealry £80 for me and my sons GF tickets and programm etc if I had heard anyone having a go at me as described on here as we escorted my Dad out at the end I might just have taken exception to the accusation!

And as noted before it wasn't just Wigan fans walking early, some Bradford fans were also spotted leaving before the end of the game. Every team has fans who leave early, there weren't many left at the end on any of the occasions we've beaten the Stains this year.

DaveO,

I'm sorry I didn't mean to cause any offence with my comments.

After reading your post it's made me realise that in future I should really put the brain in gear before speaking.

All I was just really trying to say was it would have been nice if everyone at OT supporting Wigan had stayed behind to give the lads a big pat on the back for a great season.

Should've realised that all people weren't in a position to stay that long after full time.

Once again, sorry.

Right, corrrr blimey, it's taken an hour nearly to read through this lot!!!!

You can understand people leaving early if they're elderly etc... What I can't understand (if you look back to my previous posting) is hypocrites, like the ones on the coach our group was on.

I had a pop at a few people clearly because they were gloryseekers, they don't clap, they turn out for finals only, and slag off the team if they don't win. I'm not ashamed to say it.

I had my reasons not to get to the match, but I still went. Call me stupid, but I am now signed off work, on complete bed rest (have escaped whilst other half is out to get to the computer). I am as sick as a dog (and not just with the result from the match!!!)

Also, I couldn't give a chuff what Billy Boston said, you're not telling me he isn't give gold class service and has no excuse to leave a match early without applauding a team - no matter what. I know this may be swearing in some peoples books, but I am a little head strong!!!!!

P.S. Liked the banners you all brought, they gave us a laugh!!!!
