A little 'fact' about Barrett

from wikipedia.org

"Trent's claim to fame came in the season of 2001. This was the season where he failed to make a line break in the first few games of the year. So he decided to instruct his teammates (when carrying the ball) to fall at the legs of oponents just as they were to be tackled. Basically resulting in them succumbing to tackles voluntarily. This had the desired effect of resulting in a quick play the ball, giving Trent more time to run at the line while the defensive team was retreating. This tactic seemed to work for a few weeks but then disaster struck. The Dragons favourite son Nathan Brown sustained a serious neck injury whilst trying to dive (voluntarily) at the legs of a defender. Trent was never forgiven for prematurily ending the career of Nathan Brown and eventually was forced to end his carrer in England once Nathan took over as Head Coach of the once Mighty Dragons."

That doesn't sound nice... but i's the players choice for a voluntary tackle like that

Brown as coached at St George for a few seasons,

I think Barrett signed a contract when he was coach , it would still be the players choice to take a tackle for a quick play the ball and it is still used today unfortunate but injuries are just part of a tough sport.

Find that hard to believe as Barret was in the NSW team then I think and obviously could make a break anyway.

Stains favourite tactic. Quick tackle , quick play of the ball. Nothing new here.

The captain was one of the very few that came away with any credit from today's game. I'd rate Higham. O'Loughlin, Barrett, Hock & Fletcher as "satisfactory"; the rest were disappointing, to say the least.

clearly not match fit after his weeks off with the shoulder injury in view of the time he spent on/off the pitch and why was Fielden taken off after only 25 minutes??

Hence 'fact'... just wondered why Wikipedia would allow such allegations onto their site... the story is a bit strange anyways.

What ever the story, Barrett is by far the best player on the pitch for us at present, need someone to play off him and bobs your uncle. We would be Salford if it wasn't for havin Trent int he squad this season..
