Points deduction??

Daily Telegraph and Yorkshire Post both saying that Wigan due a points deduction for salary cap infringements last season. Cannot see how that can be the case. As a (retired) accountant I would be extremely concerned about my work if after that close look at the books before they allowed Wigan to sign Fielden before the Warrington game last season the RFL now said they had got it wrong and we were overspent. We shall see but a 4 point deduction would set us back amongst the relegation hopefuls and with Salford playing Wakey on Friday and us playinf t'Bulls we could be only 2 points away from safety!!
Still we would have the same number of points as
Edit note,
Apologies but I see that this thread is already running on the rumour mill line. One of those rare occassions I agree with DaveO, bringing in Fielden and Dobson saved us last year, more on Dobson putting the kicks on the floor and not down the fullbacks throat than Fielden to be honest and Withers and Millard and not forgetting the lad from Hull whose name I forget

are all poor Noble signings.

Another rumour could be 6 points, looks bad for us though because looks like we will be hit with a deduction.

Maybe Ian we said we would get rid of X Y & Z to fit under then didn't. Its interesting that the new system will not allow you to sign anybody untill your under the cap

If we are over the cap, surely teams like Saints Leeds and Bradford must be aswell.
And going on this years, what about Hull KR. Paul Cooke must have gone on a big money contract plus the other players they have brought in. There is no way they would have had that much room left on the cap.
Think we will get a fine, but no deduction, as I dont think we were that much over it

If we are deducted points wether it be 4 or 6, Wigan will be in trouble seeing the up and coming fixtures.
That said I won't be suprised if we batter Bradford on Friday.
Come on the Warriors ... pull it together!! :eusa10:

Somebody correct me if i'm wrong (i know no invitation is required on here) but i seem to recall that when Noble came as coach assurances from Mo & Dave were given re the salary cap & no points deduction would be imposed, so if Noble was led to believe no points penalty for this season and now finds out this not to be the case could explain the speculation re him & Mo. Like i say may have got that completely wrong, just something in the back of my mind.
Don't know if there was anything public said to that effect. All I recall is the club assuring the RFL over the Fielden signing that we were under the cap.
You would think Nobby would have known long ago if we were likely to be over the cap. I would expect him to know who earns what and I am sure he can add up.
The things he might no know about are any benefits in kind that count on the cap but really I'd expect him to know about those as well. He has been in this game long enough to have a good ides of the situation regarding the cap so if it was a resignation issue I'd have expected him to have walked before now.
I mean it can't be much fun coaching that lot at the moment so if there was any upset with him and Mo what incentive is there to stay?
