Here's an interesting story for anyone who has ever shouted at the likes of Mr Ganson and Mr Cummings your belief that said individual hasn't got a clue about the rules:-

If this goes ahead, I suspect the ref genuinely won't know what he's doing! Even ignoring the fact that it's a different sport from the one they're used to, the last time I saw any Aussie "Rules" football I couldn't actually work out if there were infact any rules...!SportingLife.com wrote:
Ireland's Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) are considering turning to rugby league referees in an effort to rescue their annual fixtures with Australia.
The International Rules Series, a hybrid game which was developed to pave the way for representative matches between Aussie Rules and Gaelic footballers, were scrapped after violence marred the 2006 fixtures.
The GAA are now exploring the possibility of using neutral referees in an effort to re-instate the matches and have approached the Rugby Football League with the idea.
RFL match officials director Stuart Cummings, who was planning to visit the GAA as a part of a fact-finding mission, admits: "It would be interesting.
"We will be willing to look at any proposals - but as yet, no discussions have taken place."
GAA president Nickey Brennan is due to meet Australia Football League (AFL) chief executive Andrew Demetriou in Paris today for exploratory talks on a re-instatement of the series.
