You have to ask yourself with the current situation at the club i.e needing a fullback centre and a prop and only having 140K to spend , this would be the best option.
Ok we might not see the best of Pat at centre ( or we might who knows) but as a team we definately would.
Yeah Richards as hed be as much us as a prop as he was at centre. Hes a good FB and a very good winger. Centre hes poor.- psycho - posted:
didn't you consider the lack of confidence came because he was simply crap at centre? we've seen were he performs! full back and wing, leave him in either position!! jesus!!!!
any advances on lueluia at prop?
I dont know, but did Pat ever play centre for Wests, I thought he was just an out and out winger there. Pat's confidence, to me, has been one of the major factors in his big improvement from two seasons ago. I dont think we have seen enough of his ball handling skills to decide if he could play centre. He is big enough, tackling improved big style, but doesnt seem to run like a centre. Swerving, side stepping etc.consigliere posted:
I know what you are saying Alex. And to be fair on paper it reads as good commonsense. It balances the team and does it all within the amount we have to spend.
The trouble is, lets be honest...
Pat was awful at center. I know there are mitigating circumstances but put him back there and I do not see prospects of it being any better. He just is not a center. He knows it and the fans know it so will be on his case from the off. If he has even an niggling doubt his confidence would hit rock bottom with the first volley of "i told you so" from the terraces.
He is solid at FB. That was what we were needing at the time so I am not being critical. There is a lot to be said for that quality even if it would be nice if he broke the odd tackle coming away from the line. Rads only rarely beat the first man yet was so solid who cared?
On the wing if you take away his attacking the high cross field kick he is not the kind of winger who defenses are scarred by. That just is not his game is it? He seems to be a very "Australian" type of solid /few mistakes player - thats not a crtisism!
For mine I would leave him at Fullback.
A nice solid dependable base to build from. Moving him back to center just seems to be a gamble. who knows you could be right but i don't want to gamble and you be wrong.
And by the way...

Spot on, he's not a centre. THink the blokes probably had enough of changing positions to be honest.Panchitta Marra posted:I dont know, but did Pat ever play centre for Wests, I thought he was just an out and out winger there.
