BBC TV Rights

The BBC have retained the rights to show the Challenge Cup on TV for 2009, 2010 and 2011 possibly with some matches being shown online.

Also as part of the deal the BBC will show one England match.

I think having any international matches on terrestrial TV is a step in the right direction for Rugby League in Britain.

While the RFL are saying they have got more money for the TV rights (although they aren't boasting about how much so I bet it isn't a great deal) have they actually secured any improvements in the actual broadcasting?

Or is it just going to be the same format? I assume so for Sky but the one that needs a total revamp is the BBC. They really do need to get rid of Ray French doing the commentary and that plank of wood Gration on the SL show.

Got to agree with DaveO on this one, how many times has Ray French got the players names wrong ?, he even struggles with the rules of the game, also the bbc start showing a re-play of what happened 5 minutes ago while the action is still going on.
Time for a change of commentary team me thinks.

The best part of that news for me is that they're saying it will probably lead to an expansion of the number of teams in SL.

Hopefully we can get away from those "repeat" fixtures.
