I think i heard right,listening to a Villa defender on MOD he stated it was more like playing on a pub pitch today.Lets hope its in good nick for us!!!!!!!!!

I saw the pitch on TV yesterday and it is appalling.

As usual our first few home matches will be played in a mud bath. It's the price we pay for having the JJB as our home.

It is so annoying though to keep hearing the Sky pundits blaming it all on us. When we played our last game on it it was like a snooker table!!

They're just not interested in the truth.

Football can do no wrong in this country. The FA dealt with their hooligan problem by successfully pretending it wasn't there any more. England only failed to qualify for Europe because the Wembley pitch had been messed up by an American football match - presumably Croatia, or whoever it was, were playing on a different surface? The vast amounts of money leaking out of English football through undeserving players' pockets are an excellent investment. The lack of English youth coming through the football system is a mirage and all the foreigners currently plying their trade in the Premiership is a price worth paying because Premiership football is the only thing that matters in the whole world (apart from in Wigan, where football suddenly seems to have reached the limits of its influence )

It's maddening that they actually believe all this stuff, but they do. The likes of us will just have to grin and bear it, and treat it as the amusing propaganda that it's always been. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter. We're now legally nailed to the JJB for the next 50 years, and there's nothing that the Latics fans or their monkey chums in the football press can do about it.

Yes I heard the Sky soccer pundit giving a mid-match comment during the Latic's Saturday slog, he said the JJB pitch was in such a bad condition because, and I quote, "The pitch is in such a bad condition because until recently, rugby has been played on it"! Now I don't know the correct date that our great team played their last match on the turf but at a guess it was mid September, 3 and a half months ago. I thought we were going into a "no blame culture", not much evidence there, I wonder who fed him the information? :exc:

Our last game was Sept 5th, then there was only the GB v NZ game on Nov 10th. In fact, I seem to remember they started their season before we'd finished ours (and none of them were complaining then)- I remember seeing the soccer markings were visible for our last couple of games.

they won't need to bother next season in the 1st division nobody will comment then

i agree with the fact that the pitch was like a snooker table when we our last game on it.

The are a few problems with the pitch:
-Drainage apparenlty the drainage system was installed wrongly. Excess water from the pich going into the douglus but when the duglas is high i.e after a lot of rainfall the water runs up the drainage pipes not down them from the pictch.

-The pitch does not get a rest all year round due to the rugby and football playing on it.

-Due to football being played in the winter the pitch does not recover the same as it does for the rugby. Therefore the more football being played on the pitch in winter the craper the pitch becomes.

Rugby is not responsable for the state of the pitch but it does contribute to it a little.
