Sir Chris of Ashton question

25 tries in 20 games in Rugby Union's Mickey Mouse league for our one time full back, an England cap can't be far away (well, summer tour or next season) blah blah etc.

Anyway, that is of no import, I have a query, he was written about by The Sunday Times' notoriously league hating hack Stephen Jones this weekend and whilst barely disguising his glee that a promising youngster had been prised away from the evil 13 a side code, Jones said "Ashton's father was a legend of the Wigan club". Is this, as I suspect, very poor journalism/research or have I missed something regarding the flame haired try machine and his genealogy? I thought his dad had turned out for Wigan RU ?

His father Kevin Ashton played for Wigan Rugby Union Club
His brother David Ashton is a centre for Swinton Lions
Ashton's grandad was a successful Gaelic footballer.

Good idea! Presumably he was thinking of Eric.

Ok, I'll let you off with that one!!!! :D :D :D

Just been on the Northampton Saints site and it says he is suspended for one match after recieving a total of four yellow cards in his RU career so far.

One consolation when he was with us is that he was never suspended, just dropped or benched.
HIs discipline (spelling?) seems to have worsened.

Do RU have a "totting up" scheme, like soccer? He got quite a few sin-binnings in his Wigan days.

Yep!

Still no answer to the question of who will be the "new Ashton" this season.
