out of the national league clubs I think the clubs in with a chance are Widnes and Salford. Simple as They are super league clubs, widnes are building a club for the future which is vital and their ground is very impressive. Salford I think are a definate for the licence their ground is now being built and it is going to be a special ground. I also think Celtic will get in to the franchise system. My reason for thinking this is the millenium magic I cant see any other reason for having millenium magic other than to promote the game down in wales for the franchise system.

why should salford get a franchise?? because they have a new ground? pointless having a new ground if there is going to be nobody in there! their attendances over last few seasons have been dire, they have had long enough to biuld up a fanbase. I have nothing against salford fans but its hard for a club to compete far spectators against man utd!

I agree. I suspect the RFL will want to keep a club in Manchester, though. Maybe their new ground will attract more fans? I'm not hopeful of that, though.

Imo the Geographical point is a bit bizarre€¦(I dont actually know the distances) but that could mean there€™is a chance, Wigan, Saints, Warrington, Widnes and maybe Leigh could all loose a point in this category, I generally cant see the point in this one, does it really matter if a club has other clubs in a certain mileage from each other? Bit unfair to loose a point due to this.
Is this just to keep quins and catalans in the league? :doz:

Catalans have loads of RL teams within 20 miles, so do London. I suppose it could mean SL teams though.

And obviously, it is to give a 1 points advantage to expansion teams :doz:

it should just be super league teams. If not would any team score points? Will Quins actually score a point? If it isnt just super league teams will London Scholars take a point of quins?
I can see it being teams who have applied for a franchise as if not would any team actually score a point? :conf:

ATTENDANCES
A point will be awarded to clubs with an average attendance of around 10,000 spectators.
Another point will be awarded if stadiums are operating at 40 per cent capacity.
I can see the stains making the second point then!!!! After all. all they need to do is keep reducing the capacity at Knowsley Road.

It is SL clubs.

Saints are lucky as they get 5 points for me and scrape in.

Pardon the pun but the fact the clubs are close together is the whole point of this particular criteria.

It means in simple terms if Leigh and Celic Crusaders (the Welsh team who have said they are interested in applying for a franchise) end up on the same points total due to their facilities, finances etc then Celtic would get in and Leigh would not.

It makes perfect sense if you want to expand the geographic coverage of the game as it helps the likes of Celtic. It also acknowledges that if teams are close together they compete for supporters.

In RU Sale have no competition in all of the North West for fans and while you will probably never get just one North West RL side in SL, the RFL do not want more sides from the M62 corridor in SL at the expense of sides in new areas.
