Klein???

I am not one to criticise referees unless they have Ganson as a surname. However, tonight was the oddest display by a referee I have seen ina long time.
Referees operate to 2 schools of thought. SL referees tend to favour fast play of the ball and small 10. NRL referees favour a slow play of the ball but a big 10. You cannot ever have both. Yet in the first half Klein did (a slow POTB and a small 10) and was not keen on blowing his whistle.
The tap by Calders on the 20 where he was tackled a yard before the 30 line beggars belief. Even achild could work out he had to reach the 30 line to have gone 10 yards
In the second half after being reluctant to blow his whistle, Klein seem to go whistle happy.
Why no sin bin and only a penalty for the Leeds professional foul.
The last minute of the game. Pure farce.

Agreed. But for the fact that Sinfield was off the field, that last 5 minutes alone would probably have cost us the game.
I'd want to watch the video before commenting on some of the specific decisions, but how he allowed all their lying on while penalising us for the same is beyond me.

I have just seen the reply on the video and I thought that Klein had probably one of THE best games that I have seen from him this season - UNTIL the 79th minute and 49th second when he just lost the plot.

:eh:
Could you explain your reasoning behind such a statement Mr. Turfy mate?
I thought he was inconsistant and made errors against both teams.

Turf, I have never jumped on the bandwagon slating Klein but after tonight I can fully understand why so many fans get irate with him. Inconsistency is the worst trait in a referee and boy is AK inconsistent.

One thing to look out for. The RFL changed its interpretation of ball stealing etc2 years ago. They introduced the idea of a loose carry and if the ball carrier lost the ball in that scenario the referee should give a knock on.

Have you not noticed the similarity between this and the Les Cats game? His reffing followed the same pattern in that game.
For the last quarter he started to blow up for things that were let go earlier. It's as if he becomes nervous and desperate for nothing team to gain advantage by foul play in the closing stages whereas if he reffed the rest of the game the same way we'd have 50 penalties a match.
The last minute of the game. Pure farce.
Well you can argue it was gamesmanship by Coley I suppose but the farce was the things he missed. He missed far to much in terms of knock ons and forward passes. I also think he was inconsistent with Leeds laying on a lot and then when Wigan do it once they got pinged right away.
I agree about Hall. he should have walked for 10. Professional foul rught in front of the sticks.
