Certainly is! Work in Middlesbrough (mostly) - live in Saltburn. 'Parmos' are not a patch on pies though.

When I first moved to Cleveland this was the first question I asked. It is the local delicacy that is considered unusual in any other part of the country (like trying to explain that eating a meat and potato pie sandwich is acceptable in Wigan). It is only sampled after having a few glasses of strong sherry on a Friday or Saturday night from one of the late night pizza / kebab shops.
First take some chicken or more commonly pork, beat it to within an inch of its life with a mallett so it is large but quite thin, cover in cheese (supposed to be parmesan - hence the name) on shove under the grill. - served with the traditional array of fresh salad.
It is mandatory to feel quite ill about an hour later. Here endeth the lesson. Well you did ask. :eusa5:

Message to Cleveland Pieman from his mum in Wigan.
What's all this talk about meat & potato pie sandwiches? You should know better, you were brought up with "butties", not sandwiches. I'm surprised there haven't been more complaints about this slip up. Warriors for ever. !!!

This Parmos thing sounds disgusting. My brother in law who is in the army really misses the pies from around here when he is on tours, so he has written to the manufacturers in the past and has got a box free - he is a Hollands Pie addict you see.
Maybe you should try the same thing to save you from these Parmos things.
It all sounds like those Scottish people who deep fry Mars Bars, which again is just awful!!!

Oh my god... right now I am happy to live in England - the civilized land in comparison. Deep fry a pizza??? What the hell is that about???
