Desi Williams, bad day at the office?

Desi Williams may be a good prospect, but surely he needed to be pulled from the game earlier. It was obvious that his confidence had been knocked, and no doubt being pulled off will knock it even more, but Wigan need to beat these teams to stand any chance of being in that grand final

Yeah but it is still very early in the season! I agree he should of been pulled out earlier i was screaming at mike on the tv and that last knock on from the kick which led to a try for cass was the last straw! He is against the big boys now!

It's not that long ago that a certain Jason Robinson was being targetted on the wing every game, but he was lucky to have Gary Connolly next to him. John Monie Switched Jason and Gary on the last tackle so that Gary would take the high ball.

Nah I said at the time I didn't think he could have gone off any earlier. After his first mistake he would have been trying to prove a point, and when that didnt come off then his confidence would have been going further and further down.
I think we pulled him off at respectable time to be honest.
Remembering how old he is(and I dont want any "jason robinson was 10 when he played his first match and got 18 tries that day against saints") ahem, and remembering how much experience he actually has I tink we can let him off.

I would love to agree, but I don't think the guy looked anywhere being near good enough to pull on a first team shirt.
He did nothing but make mistakes, and not just under the high ball. All the excuses in the world about age, pressure etc.. only go to re-enforce the reason why the kid should not have been on the pitch. Players like that don't win titles and thats the only reason they go out there every week..

Where do we get reinforcements from then? The big pool of highly experienced good players that no other teams want?
You always need to have some youth in the squad, especially in an injury crisis, like with our backs now. Desi had an off-day, he'll have more good days!

I agree he did have a "bad day at the office" and it was awful that he was mocked for making a couple of mistakes. Every player makes them.... for example Dodgy, O'Loughlin, Hock - all young players who have come good and make first team appearances on a regular basis.
Desi will be back and everyone will wonder why they ever doubted him one day!!!

He had a good game against London. It may not have been much of a test, but thats the way it should be. Idealy he should be fed in slowly from the bench, but we hav'nt got that comfort at the moment. It was only his second game and it would of added pressure in his mind that he puts in a few good performances he would be in contention for a Final place.
Smith had a similar game for Bradford today and Noble came on at the end full of praise for him as i'm sure Gregory will have done for Williams.

i agree he gave away a try there! But why do they carry on letting him play if they think hes not got enough confidence yet but drop like luke robinson and harrison hansen ?? Will Luke Robinson not come back for the rest of the season now ??
