You have my and any real Wiganers sympathy

Post by Proud2bWigan »

A Latics fan I am, but I am only here to offer a sympathetic ear.
For what its worth, I feel for you as I know I would feel sick at having the rug pulled from under our feat. I see no reason why we couldnt play on Sunday, our game is not on tv so I cee no problem.
Although not an RL supporter, I see myself as a Wigan supporter, be that Wigan RL, Wigan Athletic or Wigan Wasps.
What im wondering, is this Dave Whelans doing or is it his mate Maurice Lyndsay having a dig at having no say in the club?
Anyhow good luck on Friday, we have a town to be proud of with sport that some cities cant match. It isnt about Latics and Warriors like some idiots stuck in the previous century make out, we are all Wigan and should be proud of each other.

I will second that!!

I thought that after 3 years in the Premiership, the unhealthy hostility between the two sports had begun to mellow. As has been said many times, neither team alone can support the ongoing running of the JJB.

Sadly, the hostilities look set to be returning by one of the tenants publicly being made to look officially inferior to the other.

Congratulations Mr Whelan. You have split our town in two once again!! Our town, I would emphasize, not yours. You live in Parbold. Lets face it, despite all your 'Mr Wigan' posturing and the lies about your Poolstock upbringing, you couldn't get out fast enough!!

As for the entente between the two sets of fans sharing the same ground, you have set relations back 20 years.

Your father would have been so proud of you!!

they probably couldn't shift the latics game to sunday, due to the 5000 Mackems who'd bought tickets and made plans for a saturday kick off already.Non starter that one I'm afraid.

That's precisely why I consider Lenegan to share to some of the blame, as I've said in another thread.

Whelan is on record as saying that, given enough notice, the Latics game could have been moved.

Lenagan was saying 2 months ago, after the Leeds game, that 4th spot was a definite possibility; why wasn't something done then? Either he was lying about believing that, or he was negligent in not preparing for it.
Whelan added he would have asked the Premier League to delay Latics' game against Sunderland had he been asked earlier.
