We need to support the young uns

good luck to the young men of Wigan

Glorious sunshine, Josie could be heard from all along the 2 mile stretch and Wigan Academy finally defeated Bradford 26-22 in a titantic struggle that was of a standard and intensity so very rarely seen at this level. We fielded our big guns. Vievers, Farrel, Davies and Howarth all dropped down. By the look of it so did Bradford.

The lead swapped several times during the match and even when Wigan opened up an 8 point gap (courtesy of a fortunate chip bouncing off the cross bar into Mellors hands), Bradford came straight back with a try. In the closing minutes they even hada grubber just run dead with a forlorn Bradford playing diving for it.

For large parts of the game Bradford were the more fluent team passing ball fast and with accuracy to either wing. However, we had that little bit of magic with Liam Farrel most prominent. Ian Thornley. The club must fast trach this young man. He needs to be stretched beyond mere physical domination. He looks very very good and Wigan / Britain could have a tall fast poweful centre if they play their cards right.

If only junior RL could be this good week in week out.

You've got the score wrong CP it ended 32 - 28 and the officials were bloody atrocious.

is that the academy and reserves into the GF now?

lol I knew it ws 4 points. Did you not chuckle Josie when somebody from the other side of the pitch shouted You tell em Josie. The referee was. He is a SL TJ too often in the big games. He would not know stripped ball to save his life and it would halp if he shouted held a tad sooner.

It is Pedro. The academy final will be really difficult. Saints have a cracking academy team and much will depend when the finals are as to how strong a team wecan field. We need to improve our short kicking game and let the ball do the work.

And don't be bloody cheeky there were 3 coaches there sat at the back, and they all looked jet lagged, if I hadn't been shouting and geeing the lads on they could have lost when the score was 24 - 16 lol
