Don't have satsuma , so don't see NRL,but was looking on text at their play-off games/results,
eg,if stains and leeds were in NRL,when leeds lost would they still have a home tie as their next game,or would they have an away game to us,because they lost and we won.
Anyone understand what I mean?
Aussie play-offs ,are they the same format as ours?

Re: Aussie play-offs ,are they...
i know its the top 8 not top 6 and that this ends up giving 2 semis (preliminary finals?!)winner of each goes through to grand final.
don't know whether 1st plays 8th, 2nd plays 7th etc etc though

1 v 8
2 v 7
3 v 6
4 v 5
Two lowest finishing losers go out (i.e. 1-4 progress to second round of play-offs regardless, but if they lose they lose home advantage)
Then same format as ours

It's much more complicated than that. Only two teams go out each week until the final. Also if 8 beats 1 then they can get home advantage for the next two rounds depending on other results. NZ warriors did this when finishing 8th and beating 1st in the 1st round.robjoenz wrote:1 v 8

The first week all teams play for a "bye". Depending on the results of 2 v 7 and 1 v 8 it's possible for two teams from 3 v 6 and 4 v 5 to get a bye (with only the losers of the latter two games going out if 1 & 2 lose their games).
Even the order of games is important to make sure no teams has the benefit of knowing a result.
For example if 1 v 8 and 2 v 7 are played first and both 1 & 2 won, there is no way 7 & 8 could progress to week 2 so the other two games could be less intense as none of the four teams could go out.
I personally think its a daft system and one the RFL are bound to screw up. They could not for example accommodate Les Cats requests to play Saturday's because if the order of games being important.
