HAYNE TAKES CHARGE OF OPENER

Australia's Shayne Hayne will referee Saturday's opening World Cup match between England and Papua New Guinea in Townsville.

Ashley Klein and Steve Ganson, the two referees appointed by the Rugby Football League, will be in charge of the Australia-New Zealand game in Sydney on Sunday.

Klein is referee and Ganson will be the video referee.

Ganson will referee Ireland's opening pool match against Tonga at Parramatta on Monday.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
