The Kangaroos' Johnathan Thurston and Kurt Gidley are in doubt for Australia's World Cup match against England in Melbourne on Sunday.
Both failed to train this afternoon.
Playmaker Thurston has a shoulder injury, while Gidley is struggling with his knee.
Australian centre Israel Falou says Thurston's absence would be a big loss.
"He's one of the key players in our side so if he's not there on Sunday than obviously a massive loss for us," he said.
"But we do have a couple of players that can fill in his spot which is good for us

Injury concerns trouble Kangaroos squad
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Gidley sidelined for rest of World Cup
Australian utility player Kurt Gidley has been ruled out of the remainder of the rugby league World Cup.
Gidley injured his knee during Sunday night's win over New Zealand in Sydney, and scans today revealed cartilage damage.
Jonathan Thurston remains in doubt for Sunday's clash with England because of a shoulder injury.
Gidley will remain in camp with the squad before returning to Newcastle for surgery on Sunday night.
