Older Players

I've noticed on a couple of recent messages on the board that fans are worried about the ages of players currently at Wigan, and ages of rumoured transfer targets.

To be honest the age of a player doesn't interest me in the slightest as long as they are performing well and are deserving their place in the starting line up.

Remember Robbie McCormack, when he came to play for the Warriors in '98 the guy appeared to play a blinder for us virtually in every match he started.

I know fans want to see the younger players progress but there has to be a balance of experience there as well to guide them along.

Thankyou very much for saying that.
See ROB. There is another person that is not bothered how old they are.
When we get Stacey Jones, an seaseau. We will be better. We will have a stronger an another fast player.

I dont no who views the same opinion as me????

To be honest I don't care how old Stacey Jones is either, what I do care about is how much he will cost and that is the main reason why we should not bring him to Wigan. We're up against the salary cap limits already, and a player of his reputation is going to mean we have to sacrifice more players. Who shall we get rid of to accommodate him? Luke Robinson? Kevin Brown? Jones is also not as fast as he used to be, but there's another worry. Much has been said about Danny Orr, he was a great player in a Castleford team with not a great deal around him, but he's struggling at Wigan with strong players in other positions. Am I alone in thinking that Stacey Jones is the same for NZ / Auckland Warriors? He's got good players but not great players around him in those teams, so he stands out and can dictate things, but that doesn't necessarily work in a team with other playmakers?

Well I guess I'm on me own then! lol. I agree with part of what you say 100% warrior, about needing both youth and experience, I just don't agree with buying into a position we have already accomodated for.

Choosing between Robinson and Jones you have to take into account that you are going to get an extra 9 years out of Luke. Then you have to consider that he will playing for one of our rivals and obviosuly as Fraggle pointed out how much he will cost and at whos expense.

Buying Jones would be to try and achieve immediate success which might not sound bad, but I'd personally prefer to wait a few seasons and then dominate than have two glory seasons and then be back in this predicament.

What exactly has Robinson done wrong. Maybe he had a few bad games but he is a young and extremely good raw talent. Stacey Jones is a great player but is he worth offloading players due to the salary cap. What happened to the days when Wigan bread great players we only seem to buy old ones now :doz:
