Oh deary me!
Do I rise to this?????? Errrrrrrm, Yes go on then I will.
I have been I Wigan Rugby League fan for about the same time you have followed your tin pot, flash in the pan team.
Latics fans make me laugh, you have two , well one really good season and you have put Wigan on the map. Let me ask you a question! Has Kevin Langley, Graham Barrow or lets see, maybe somebody that people might of heard of, ermmm no can't think of anyone off the top of my head, been famous or even a local celebrity!!
Just in case you don't understand the question. I will answer for you NO!!
Try achieving something over 10-20 years and then come back and have go, people might listen.
Fact: It isn't scientifically proven what you said about rugby league fans. Maybe in your opinion having a higher IQ means donning a Burberry cap and a Stone Island jacket and going kicking the crap out of anything that moves. Or on a more national level express you patriotism by urinating in fountains and smashing up bars etc....... Oh sorry ours is the violent sport!!!!

Get back to the zoo you might miss feeding time.

PS - Cheap shot :- There's only one Brian Deane.

This is going to be fun...

>>I hate you men and everything your stupid violent sport stands for.

I didn't realise Kitten from Big Brother had access to a PC. I'm sure the ladies on here, and the ladies who play rugby league, will be happy with your assumption that only blokes have anything to do with RL. It is, after all, a family sport, unlike some I could mention (my boss has given back her season ticket at Old Trafford because even at Man Utd the atmosphere has started to get thuggish at times)...

>> How can a load of fat men rolling around in the mud and sticking thier fingers up each others rectums be good for anything except allowing the outflowing of previously repressed homosexual tendancies?

John Hopoate has never played for Wigan.

>> Now ive been a latics fan for a long time (27 years), and i can remember the attitude of your supporters, You didnt want to share a ground with us then did you?

When? Talk about an ambigious, meaningless argument. Why do I suspect that any suggestion of the rugby team playing at whatever your old ground was called (sorry, not a Wiganer and it was irrelevant to me so I can't remember) would have also been turned down?

>> How can a successful rugby league team be good for the town?

Money, publicity, fills up newspapers, keeps more people occupied that Latics (compare average crowds, we're still ahead of you), stops lots of people becoming football hooligans...

>> FACT- noone south of chester gives a monkeys toss about rugby. Billy Boston isn't famous, he's a local celebrity. So it could have hardly have put wigan on the map beyond the places were it was already known anyway.

The day before the CC Final, The Independant ran a HUGE article on the life of Billy B. FACT - he's a very well-known celebrity in Wales and was the first sportsman inducted to the Welsh Hall of Fame.

>> FACT - it has been scientifically proven that Rugby fans are a)fatter b)smellier d)more impoverished and e)of a lower IQ , than the rest of the population.

Obviously you know nothing of science. It is very possible to do experiments to prove anything. If I wanted to prove you had two heads, 6 ears and permanent gut rot I could do so. But as in your example, an experiment with a sample of 1 doesn't really prove anything. Maybe you should try the Test the Nation test on the BBC Science website, comeback and tell us how you did. Then we can compare IQ levels.

>> So when the whole (?) country tuned in every year to watch you in your annual egg boiling contest at wembley, they didnt think "look at those cool people", thet thought "what a bunch of fat smelly thick no-marks, watching an irrelevant sporting(?) contest".

No, they thought "ooh, a live sporting event that doesn't require us to remortgage our house to get Sky so that we can watch Wycombe Wanderers vs Barnet because it's totally obsessed with money and has forgotten that sport is for everyone not just for those interested in lining their wallets.

>> Its not just a coincidence that wigan is on the up just as latics get going. football's fashionable, glamorous and attracts crowds like no other spectacle. As latics rise so will the town.

Attracts crowds like no other spectacle? That's why your sport had armed police at Cardiff for the FA Cup final whereas we had fat, balding special constables who were visible but knew they'd have nothing to do. RL's not glamorous? Have you not seen Sean Long recently? As for fashionable, you can keep it because fashion is fickle and the moneymen will get bored eventually and you'll all go back into insignificance again. If soccer is so good, why do we still hear of loads of clubs in dire straits financially?

>> Enjoy that beautiful stadium over this next year it could be the last!

Why, are your lot going to trash the place so it won't be beautiful anymore?

Grow up, take your blinkers off and accept we don't all have skinheads and 20 rolls of flab hanging over the front of our trousers, which is the stereotype of football fans if you see any film or photos in the papers.

Come on guys... some footy fan is trying wind us up here and you two are taking the bait; hook, line and sinker. Isn't this meant to be kept as an RL message board?

First of all I'd just like to offer my deepest sympathies,if I had watched the Latics for 27 years I'm pretty sure I'd be looking for a bottle of pills and the nearest train line!If I were you my friend I'd pay a couple of pounds extra a year and go to Old Trafford where you will see a GOOD game of football and hey once in a while you might even get to see a trophy, thats the big silver thing teams get when they win finals!

A lot of people in wigan have started to support Latics and the Rugby and a lot of peolple reckon its good for the town, but i don't buy it. I hate you men and everything your stupid violent sport stands for.
At least the violence is confined to the pitch. Care to recall the scenes from outside the ground after you played PNE?
How can a load of fat men rolling around in the mud and sticking thier fingers up each others rectums be good for anything except allowing the outflowing of previously repressed homosexual tendancies?
Fat? 20 years out of date there! The rest is too childish for a response. Fact is, I was born a football supporter (not in Wigan) and whilst I still watch football every week, I recognise RL as the superior sport and for having massively superior athletes.
Now ive been a latics fan for a long time (27 years), and i can remember the attitude of your supporters, You didnt want to share a ground with us then did you?
Whose ground provided the majority of the revenue for the JJB. Not the scrapyard that was Springfield Park!

In order:- Wigan is know for,
a) Rugby League
b) Wigan Pier
c) Wigan Casino
d) Uncle Joe's mintballs.
Don't see Latics on there.

FACT - it has been scientifically proven that Rugby fans are a)fatter b)smellier d)more impoverished and e)of a lower IQ , than the rest of the population.

Thick hey? I can spell 'their' and punctuate my sentences properly, which is more than you can do!
Its not just a coincidence that wigan is on the up just as latics get going. football's fashionable, glamorous and attracts crowds like no other spectacle. As latics rise so will the town.
Enjoy that beautiful stadium over this next year it could be the last!
Yawn. That story is old and inaccurate. Secondly, Latics style of kick and rush won't get them a second chance at promotion.

Well if rugby's a family sport then there cant be many families watching it. The only reason there is never violence at rugby matches is because a)there aren't enough people present, and b)rugby doesn't invoke that kind of passion. Every football club has a contingent of fans (usually young males) who participate in organised violence, but since football is a working class sport I think this behaviour is best tolarated as long as innocents aren't targeted. And how exactly does rugby stop peolple becoming football hooligans?????? Surley being encouraged to gain wait and thrust your hands into opponents faces only promotes violent behaviour?
As for groundsharing, wigan rl REFUSED to let Latics play games at central park at a time when the football club was in administration. 20 years later with wigan rl on the brink of bankrupcy Latics did agree to a groundshare and thats what saved your bacon, without us youd probably be playing in skem.

As for rugby being good for the town, IT ISN'T!!
Ive just spent 6 months living in Bangkok and bought the Bangkok Post every day. Latics were mentioned at least once per week (after matches) and on one occassion a half page article outlined the clubs achievments over the past decade (2 league titles, 200 percente increase in crowds). I took great pleasure in talking about this with my thai friends and educating them further. In comparison not one article in 6 months was written in the paper about rugby league.

So what if the indepenmdent had a big article about billy boston? Tuesdays guardian had a 2 page article about Ashaf Therat do you know who he is? no neither do and thats my point exactly.

He's famous in Wales - nice one!

The fa cup final was free to view but yes i agree there is too much money motivation in football

Sean Long? glamorous?? what planet are you on? If he's your sports most glamorous player then its obvious why your sport has trouble promoting itself outside its traditional bases.

you say football will fall out of fashion but it hasn't for the last 40 years and i see no reason why it would do so now.

Latics will play at least 5 games in london next season, watched by over 90000 peolple in total in the capital. How many southerners will watch the warriors next season?

Glad your salary caps been lifted, it won't be long before your broke again through bad management and come crawling cap in hand..................... :o

I've had a day off work and was bored. You know I wouldn't normally bother, but I wanted something to do.
