Under-rated players

Post by Mikey800 »

Wigan have been blessed over the years with some massive star names, but who would be the player whose contributions has maybe gone un-noticed, or has been overshadowed by other great players, or just didn't seem to get the recognision they deserved.

Personally i would say Robbie McCormack was one of those.
"Well, it seemed like a good idea" he said, as the paramedics slowly lifted him into the waiting ambulance

 He probably will but he was adecent player. Played across the backline and boy could he tackle. For a fairly small bloke nobody ever got the better of him.

This next bit may have got exagerrated with time but Joe Lydon tells a story that at half time Ged was having a drag on his fag and Monie said Ged you have only made 3 tackles to which Ged calmly removed his fag and said "would you run at me"

The descriptions used for window cleaner used to make me chuckle too.

Mike Binder reckons no-one won a marathon from the back. Pheidippides may have, but Kelly Holmes did win a couple of gongs from the rear of the field. Only Wigan has made the play-offs from out of the top two, so don't get the Prozac out too soon.

of the current crop - Paul Prescott.

when he first broke into the side, he couldn't keep the ball. knock on after knock on. but given a clean bill of health for a few years i reckon he could be a great prop.

many still groan about him.

i thought Sam Panapa was highly rated. people use to call he the super sub!

reading through peoples comments i there is a a common theme- There are all forwards! Which isn't suprising the forwards to the hard work and the backs make the trys look good (well there meant to)!

Paul Johnson i thought was under rated while we had him.

Current players - Bails, Prescott, O'Carrol and Goulding.
