Ainscough - definitely
Carmont - maybe for another year, fitness permitting
Flanagan - not sure; he's never been given a chance
Phelps - No.
Bailey - Yes, but only because of losing Hock.
Coley - Depends on what other props are available, if any.

Didn't you mean to say "what other props IL is prepared to pay for, if any."?

The big season re contracts will be 2011 when we are free of Fielden and Fekas huge contracts which finish at the end of 2010. We cannot really sign another prop on a similar contract given 3 props would = a huge % of our salary cap.

2010 was the year according to IL.

We have just lost Hock's wages and that is supposed to be a six figure salary.

If all we do is resign Bailey and the test of the out of contract players something is wrong.

Mind you I have thought our recruitment has been poor since IL arrived.

Some of this is with hindsight in that he took a risk on three players, Mathers, Smith and Pryce and two failed to work out and the third doesn't look great. The rest of the recruitment was being questioned before the players signed.

We swapped one average hooker for another, then re-signed TL who isn't a great 7 but IL says he sees him as a nine but we have two in the first team already.

We sign Roberts a year early when the club was not planning on that and so it did not address the weaknesses in the team.

Gleeson is the only class player signed so far and you could argue even he will be wasted (as Barrett was) if the pack is not sorted out.

The bottom line is money has clearly been available for players like Gleeson, Roberts and Riddell none of whom will have come cheap so the idea we had to wait until 2011 to address the pack issue does not fly.

We may now have to wait that long but if we do, it is because the opportunity to address the issue earlier was not taken when it could have been.

The big question is, who is out of contract at other clubs (SL & NRL) and can we aquire the services of any top players. We could sign star players on similar contracts to the one Gleeson has got i.e. modest salary in year one and then increasing in year 2 and 3.
