London Double Header

Post by sheepdip »

I have noted that Rugby Union have a London Double Header, where two Guinness Premiership games are played at Twickenham on the same day. Rugby League could have about three or four of them during the season perhaps at Elland Road, Reebok, City of Manchester or Old Trafford. It would replace Murrayfield and I reckon you would get bigger crowds and fans would not have to trail all the way to Edinburgh or Cardiff. It would be an extra game like Murrayfield. You would use the same criteria as for Murrayfield for picking the fixtures. You would have to exclude Warrington and their scumbag fans.

I would keep Murrayfield personally. However, there is a strong argument for playing both semi-finals at the same venue, City of Manchester Stadium / Reebok and the only objectors are likely to be the BBC but I think they could be persuaded as it would reduce production costs.
