He is the most pretentious self opinionated big headed GIT i have ever seen. After watching the game tonight he was shite aswell. He did his best to ruin a fantastic game with some stupid penalties, even the one at the end for the aussies was very dubious,if i was a kiwi i wouldnt be happy. He just has to be the centre of attention the f---in idiot.

Worryingly he is the best in Superleague by a mile but his decision to wave play on after Gallen hit Isaac Luke high, and then award a penalty against the Kiwis, patronisingly telling them to "sort it out", is typical of him and nearly sparked an all out brawl.
Worst of it is having met him in the past, if you aked him today if he made the right decision, he'd swear blind he did, and make out that we don't know what we're talking about!
I saw him ref an amateur game years ago between Pilks and Haydock. Having crucified Haydock in the first half he then proceeded to level the count up in the 2nd half. But when the score got back to less than one try in it, he reverted back to giving everything to Pilks! Not sure if it was bias or just his incompetence, but it seemed seriously dodgy to me at the time!

Probably said this before on here, but I was at college with Steve Ganson, and despite the fact that he was as committed a Stains fan as I ever met, he was actually quite reasonable when discussing rugby. He was a good player too, and one of the hardest little b******s I ever played with.
He was an arrogant sod though ( shock horror !)and he still owes me £10 from a bet that I'll never see.

Which college did you go to?

If you compare him to the Aussie who ref'ed the England Vs France game, it's clear that it isn't only regarding players, coaches and tactics where there is a gulf between superleague and the NRL

I'm sure someone else posted on here that Ganson didn't make the squad at Winstanley! From what I recall, he talked the talk but that was it!!

He certainly played at least a few games at Winstanley - he was a better player than I was, I never made the first team. I believe that when he left, he then went to Wigan Tech and played for them as well - this would have been after I had moved away, because I think he's a year younger than me.
We did Film Studies together( a whole class, not just me and him !), so I have the surreal experience of having argued Hitchcockian subtexts and themes with a Superleague ref.
Still a scouse to***r though
