Right you miserable bunch of pro euthanasia campaigners

I wondered how you were feeling with a view to Wigan RLFC's prospects in 2010. I had written 2010 off and was just happy we had a new coaching team but more and more I am leaning towards we might even sneak a trophy in 2010. Very enthusiastic about the new coaching set up and the future.

Welcome back CP!!
Really enthusiastic about the new season. Think we already had a really strong squad and with a better mentality & culture, better fitness and real competition for places I can see us cementing our place in the top 4. I think it'll be us Wire & Saints chasing Leeds. I would hope for a final &/or trophy as well.
The competition for places is the big thing for me. Big players knowing that there's at 1 or 2 real contenders for their place breathing down their neck. With Deacons arrival I can't see any positions where there isn't a hungry player willing to step up, esp. in the pack.

Just on the top 4 thing, I expect the top 4 of us Wire, Saints & Leeds to be a step ahead of the rest (like Leeds & Saints are now). Bradford, Hull & Huddersfield should lead the chasing pack behind us. Or maybe not!

Well personally i'm as excited as a dog with two tails.
The season could start tommorrow for me ( not fair on the players tho).
Things seem positive and although not sure about a trophy although would love see one in our possesion again.
I'm looking forward to some exciting rugby play.
Just bring it on.

Although I'm pretty enthused by the appointments that have been made in the club, I still can't help having some reservations about our chances of success next season. This is purely because I've found myself in a similar position many times before.
On paper, we've got a fantastic coaching set up. A new strength and conditioning guru, who comes with some excellent credentials, some very hungry young players and also some seasoned campaigners. If some of our key players can get fit, ie Feka, I think we could have a really good squad. Having said that, I said the same about 3 years ago, and then a year before that and a year or so before that and so on and so on. So you can see that even the most passionate Wigan supporter can be forgiven for having mixed emotions. Although I really hope we can hit the ground running and look like a totally different team on the field, I'm going to try not to get too carried away until the results of all the (hopefully) very tough pre season training starts to come to fruition.
Having said that, I'd become somewhat disillusioned with the club and the game in general, and had decided that I wasn't going to renew my season ticket for next year.
Then with the coaching appointments and all the good reports that I've heard, I decided to give in to curiosity and buy my ticket afterall. I just have to see how it all turns out. I suppose it's like watching the X Factor, it's been pretty crap at times, but we still (sometimes) feel compelled to watch it, just to see what happens in the end.

I think the Bulls will be knocking on the door next season, how well depending on how the Assies rate McNamarra.

Not that bad really got used to being let down in the previous few years

Two poor performances in the CCSF
and numerous occasions when we did not turn up at all.
I will be giving the new backroom team time three and half seasons they have

A strong start to the season would be welcome, and I think Deacon would come in very handy in the likely wintry conditions, where his kicking game and prompting will more than compensate for his lack of pace.

If our new coach , assistant coach and fitness guru are as good as their cvs then it can only mean good times for Wigan in the future. They certainly appear to be top notch. If I was a Wigan player(dream on) I would be licking my lips at the prospect of being trained under such talented individuals.I really do hope that all our squad of players are chomping at the bit like the rest of us appear to be.Exciting times around the corner, just be patient.
