PAUL Cooke has turned down a move to Crusaders for the 2010 season, the Mail can reveal.
Cooke has one year remaining on his contract at Craven Park, where he is one of the top earners on £125,000 per year.
The Mail understands he has been warned the club are unlikely to extend his deal beyond next season – and he is free to leave Craven Park if he can find another club.
But with 12 months left on his lucrative contract, the 28-year-old is keen to stay in his home town in a bid to win silverware.
Crusaders coach Brian Noble approached KR about the possibility of speaking to Cooke four or five weeks ago, but he immediately rejected the proposal.
