A frightening thought watching Cats being demolished was that the pitch was holding us back. A new decent pitch and our boys will fly.

Yeah, except that the Lactics get another chance to trash it before we get a go. I don't quite understand why they're doing it now instead of waiting till the football finishes, as they have in the past.

You would think a ruined pitch would suit the Latics as it stops other teams playing decent football around them. Maybe Whelan thinks a new pitch will help keep Latics in the Premier League.

Because Latics are terrified they are gonna go down and so we dont want any excuses (ie backlash on the Warriors) if the do, although somehow I expect it will still all be our fault in the end.

I think those the spice boys are the opponents next - don't want to ruin those fancy, trestled locks in any mud do we?

Under Steve Bruce the state of the pitch did suit Latics & it helped keep them up last year, thats why they waited till the season was over before relaying it.
Martinez wants them to get the ball down & play passing football so the pitch is holding them back (as well as the players not being good enough to play that style at the top level).

We'll benefit from the new pitch far more than Latics will, in fact it could be what sends them down this season.

The new pitch is great news for the Warriors, a dry, fast pitch will really show what we have in our talented backs.

On the other side of the coin, Latics will struggle on keeping better football teams at bay

Way I see it, WIN WIN :D
