What a nightmare with decoys / second man plays. No wonder wingers are scoring walk in tries. It must be an absoluted nightmare to defend as a winger or centre.

It's a key ploy, that when executed properly should score as often as not. As long as it's started from near enough centre field, as soon as the fullback joins the line it creates an extra man, since the defending fullback has to stay back for a possible kick. Time the passes effectively, and select the right player to pass to, and it's always a good scoring chance. We've been doing it brilliantly ever since MM arrived, which is why our wingers have scored so many.cpwigan wrote:What a nightmare with decoys / second man plays. It's a delight to watch the number of options that we have from 10-20 metres out; whatever the defence do we have the move to counter it, whether it's a long cutout pass, a solo run, a kick, whatever. All of KP's recent tries, for example, have been from virtually the same starting structure, with Lockers, Sam, Pat, George & KP involved, yet each one has been subtly different in execution as the defence tries to adjust, and the play is adapted accordingly.

This article sums up how difficult it really is.

“Usually the fans that abuse players like Sam have never done anything of any note themselves. They’re nobodies, whose greatest claim to fame is abusing someone who has, and these so-called ‘Eddie the Experts’ pretend to their mates that they have."
