Glad we didn't sign him. He's not better than our current centres and Goulding and Charnley are the next generation.
He's certainly no Matt Gidley or Jamie Lyon - so definitely a step backwards for stains
"And Martin Offiah, trying to make some space, now then..." - Ray French, Wembley 1994

Interviewer: So that obviously means that you're not going to St Helens and you're not going to Leeds?
Frano: I don't know why I would ever want to go to St Helens or Leeds

I wouldn't go as far as saying it is a step back for Saints. The the restrictions on overseas players means that clubs now have to look at English alternatives and Shenton is one of a few good English centres.
True Shenton will never be as good as Jamie Lyon but he was an exceptional talent as for Gidley he has never been more than average for Saints.
Goulding and Charnley defiantly have the potential to be better than Shenton but only time will tell.
Gidley has been and is one of the best centres in SL just ask Ade Gardener who is at best an average winger yet has a very good scoring record almost entirely down to gidleys service
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure
get the feeling Shenton is a big fish little pond scenario who looks to be a superb player until he goes to a bigger club and gets found out, hope this isn't true as we need good young british players for the future but just get the feeling that he will be mediocre at Saints
Maybe stains should look at signing another prop after Josh Perry broke his leg!
THEY are the dark horses for the premiership, but Manly's home ground could prove their greatest hurdle after former Test prop Josh Perry suffered a severe leg injury on the dodgy playing surface.
